As soon as I saw the firepit I knew you were at a Michigan State Park. Deep Lake Unit is one of my favorites...such a beautiful place.😊👍🙋♀️

Cant believe its my first time seeing this. Perfect for doing it once in a while and I don't need to invest in a 2000$ shell that needs to sit on roof rails on bed rails. make the boards strong enough and they're also ramps to get stuff in an out and can fold up and sit in the bed. Thanks.

Ive gone out twice with it now and I love it. It is very functional and eye catching.

Good idea and ingenuity to make it work for you. And simply explained so lots of other people can try it too!

Thanks for sharing your great idea. I really like the deck! Do you think a gazebo pop up tent would work with your deck? That would give you more headroom.
@SeniorAdventures2693 жыл бұрын
My deck is 7' x 7' a full size truck might be able to support a 8' x 8' deck. So it just depends on the footprint size of the tent you want to put on it. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

Maybe if you ran a bead of silicone caulk across top of 2x4s and let it dry, it could cut down on noise of plywood. Or staple strip of old carpet across them

I like it, doing something similar on my truck. I would build a better step though than the five gallon bucket, they can come out from under you in a hurry if you don’t get step on it right.

Steve, hopefully you’ll post a video! I don’t know why this video hasn’t gone viral!

I would consider putting down some sort of material over the edges of your box so the 2x4s don’t scratch the hell out of it

Great video Do you take off everything from the truck be. I know the tent comes off, but does the 2x4 and plywood come off when driving. How do you move from place to place. Thanks

When I initially constructed the deck my plan was to assemble it on campsite. Until last year (2022) when I decided to attempt assembling it a home and drive to the campsite. I am proud to report that the 234 mile round trip was successful without incident. I did stop once or twice to check the tension on the straps to make sure they were tight.

How do you haul it? How far does it stick out if the bed?
@SeniorAdventures26910 ай бұрын
Initially I hauled it in a dismantled state. Then after successfully trying it assembled on a few times on short trips, I now haul it with the platform assembled and strapped securely to the box of the truck. This also gives me additional storage for a couple of totes on top. In answer to your second question, I would estimate that the overhang is 12” to 15”.

I want to make the exact same thing, around how much did all the materials cost?
@SeniorAdventures2693 жыл бұрын
Total is about $130 aside from things I already had o hand.
@HughGDePoo3 жыл бұрын
@Konnor, did you make one? Do you have a video of it if you did?
@HughGDePoo3 жыл бұрын
@Paul, do you set this up the plywood construct at your home and then drive to the campsite? You mentioned storing your camping gear underneath the platform. Alternatively, if you drive there before building up the platform, do you just have the plywood and 2x4’s laid into the bed at a slant with your camping gear tucked in various spaces around it? @Luis, will you be making a video of your set up? @youtube viewers…anyone seen something similar to this on KZbin? Paul, you might be an original!!!
