I went shopping and got an Aqua Dragons set and it was between one thin tank and one egg-shaped "Mars" tank and the Mars tank seems to be of the same type of plastic as this Marine Zoo. Very flimsy. On that alone I went with the "standard" narrow tank. They were each $25 as well! I may as well buy the one with better build quality!!!!!

I actually like the "no convex bubbles that are supposed to magnify your sea monkeys" feature! I'd love for them to remake this tank with the build quality of an Ocean Zoo tank, specially in that nice lime green. We're really missing some color options.

Definitely a fan of the lime green color, hate how flimsy it is 😂. If I had this I probably would have glued the base to the tank and maybe adding something to weight on the base to make it more stable. Maybe sand/scratch the inside bottom with a clean unused dish sponge to make it a bit porous so algae had a better grip to grown on. I'd be curious how you would tackle other micro pets like Triops but they can be a bit more complex than Sea-Monkeys from what I've seen. Hope you have good week 💜!

Watching your videos lets me relive the sense of wonder I had with these products when I was a kid. That wish and wonder ended up with me having multiple aquariums in the house as an adult, haha! I don’t know why I keep watching these videos, because ngl I have a long held fear of sea-monkeys that started with a childhood nightmare of my sea-monkeys growing huge and taking revenge on me for keeping them in the little sea-monkeys tank. It was such a bad nightmare that I immediately gave them away to friends, so that if the sea-monkeys did ever achieve gigantic proportions that also allowed them to roam around outside of water, it wouldn’t be at my house 😂

Happy new year!!! The tank looks so so flimsy. I remember getting a kit of “sea monkeys” that aren’t that brand, but named generally the same (it’s been awhile) and the “tank” was that same quality. It got squished and never regained its shape. It was rather large and had a “volcano” theme. I wish I still had it and had tried when I was younger. My mom was never into things like that and probably worried she’d have to take care of them. Really disappointing :( I do really like this shape and the color. It’s really nice other than the quality of the plastic. Maybe they’ll remake it with higher quality plastic and supplies!! :) P.S. your beard is majestic!

I feed mine live microalgae, so I usually remove about 100ml of water from the tank using a turkey baster and then give them 100ml of live algae, which is essentially a water change. If you’re feeding them dried food it’s not necessary to do water changes though. When water evaporates you can just top it back up with fresh water

Oh I do have a larger 2 litre DIY tank :) I've had it going for almost a year now. It was a sand/gravel substrate and a big ornament in the middle. My Sea-Monkeys are so healthy in there

@@pico-cosmos Yeah. I have the under tank heater and I had to move my sea monkeys from the ocean zoo to a glass jar so it would heat up properly. Even then it drops in temperature at night to like 73 F / 22.7 C.

I have just opened one of these but mine has different package graphics and says "Big time toys, LLC" on one side of the top and "made in China" on the other. Love your videos man. I just discovered your channel today but I’ve already watched all of your videos lol. Super interested in getting my own sea monkeys, theyd make perfect pets for me since my job in the airforce is quite demanding . I used to keep a leopard geko as a pet because they’re super cool too me and they’re pretty hardy creatures. But when i went on deployment i left him with a friend and he sadly passed. Haven’t gotten any pet since the incident, but I imagine its alot harder to kill sea monkeys due to neglect.

I think you're right, the smoothness of the cheap plastic probably prevented algae growth. Having the entire thing as one piece that has to be really smooth to be clear for viewing just wasn't compatible with also having texture for algae to cling to :/ (don't include me in the give away, I don't use insta so would never know)

One of the off-brands I've checked into, and found very nice, is a brand from the States called Seatures. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts about this off-brand of brine shrimp.

Considering how they made this to be cheap, I kinda wish now that they sold this at my country, where the regular (better) tanks are so expensive 😭 For context, the majority of people here (lower income class & some middle class) would usually only spend 3-5 USD for a gift to a kid, sometimes 10 if the gifter is a bit rich xd

You can look online for many of the tiny half gallon and smaller "Betta tanks" which are often kind of aesthetic, the marina ones come to mind. They'd all be great for sea monkeys as they often do not come with filters.

​@@kristyw89that's what I was going to say! They're horrible for bettas (you still need a filter and heater for a Betta, and don't get me started on the size), but it sounds like those would work well for sea-monkeys

Spot on review. I love the color and am hoping a lime green Ocean-Zoo will make it into the line, the only think crappier than the tank quality is the company that produced it. Big Slime Toys handling the mass-market license for the brand was a low point. Glad Yolanda finally got legal rights to her product and is now hooked up with Dragon-I Toys. They’ve been great to work with and produce quality products. 👍👍👍

I think the lime green is great too and I love how good it looks in the video intro sequence. I still reeeeally want to see a large Ocean Zoo with 3x or 4x the water volume of the regular one 😍 would be the perfect XL tank

Me and my girls just started one it's been along time since we had Sea monkeys but watching the girls sit and stare waiting for them to hatch it's cute and it's been fun. Sometimes it's the little things in life that mean the most! Appreciate it content! Thanks for making these videos they're fun and they help!

I remember seeing the flimsy Marine Zoo and wondering , "What in the world are they thinking?" I am really glad they recovered from this low point. The new Original Sea Monkeys on Mars Tank is a high quality kit, and is my personal favorite of all. Also, I am really glad for your channel, and for the new videos you are making for them. This is the right direction. Also excited to hear they are back in comic books. That brings the hobby back to full throttle!

I love the Mars tank too! I definitely think it’s their best design. I’m working on a review video for the Magic Castle tank at the moment too - just waiting for the vintage first edition version to arrive in the mail 📦

It’s “Back to the Future” for Sea-Monkeys … back in comic books where they originated. Everything old is new again. I love that lime green color as well. We need a sturdy version of that in the offerings.
