I am here because ASE linked me here..... there seems like some kind of pay off here to include ase questions to include pictures from a tool they reference then send to there page to learn from an extremely expensive tool most can't afford..... I learned and taught the Kentmore tools for nvh and the new ford nvh analyzer and they are night and day of this Pico tool, so how does this work..... ASE getting a cut for each tool sold.... are people from Pico on the ASE pushing their tool... I am confused. The question I had was a graph showing an E4 vibration... how am I supposed to know that ment an engine 4th order vibration? By taking these classes for a tool I don't own.... I do have the Kentmore tool. Or even the old fashioned way with a chainsaw rpm tool or the mechanical vibration analizers... but the ASE never had any questions about those..... anyway I smell a rat........

Hello and thank you for the feedback. Please forgive any misinterpretation of your questions as I am confused here regarding ASE, who are ASE? Regarding an E4 vibration order, "E" denotes a component either rotating at engine speed or a harmonic there off. The same applies to "T" for Tyre and "P" For propshaft. Whilst the letters denote known vibrations, they purely indicate components that are rotating at these known frequencies. Perhaps the best example I can give at present is a first order Tyre vibration (T1) that is generated by a deformed drive shaft and not a tyre. T1 allowed the user to narrow down and focus on components rotating at Tyre frequencies. Returning now to E4, this could be any component rotating at 4 times engine speed or perhaps combustion pulses from a V8 engine (4 combustion events for one revolution of the crankshaft) To determine if this is combustion related, accelerate hard during a hill climb (E4 will be high) decelerate, and over-run fuel cut will remove your E4 as we no longer have combustion. The software does provide pointers and guides to descriptions of such displayed orders. PicoScope 7 software with PicoDiagnostics and NVH can be downloaded for free here www.picoauto.com/downloads I hope this helps, take care.....Steve

This is very difficult to watch, long and is putting me to sleep. The conversation format of education is not my cup of tea. The information might be good but the delivery needs work. Same for the first video.
