Loved watching this. I moved in 1973 and remember the changes with the Lakes Estate, I went back often but I don't think I would want to live there now. I was hoping to see more of Bletchley toward Newton Longville. Maybe another time. Thanks

Bletchley was way before MK. Duncombe Street housed the first railway workers. Duncombe Street was one of the first in Bletchley, maybe the first. Why is Wolverton Works considered the growth of MK. Bletchley and the surrounding villages made MK. I was there

I spent about 10 months in Bletchley in 1985/86. Worked on the building of the Point. That’s gone now, I believe. Later worked in the White Hart pub on Whaddon Way in Bletchley, which was destroyed by fire some years back. I really left my mark on Milton Keynes 😳

The Point is still there but apart from the old bingo hall underneath (now a charity shop), none of the premises are being used.

Thank you. Although the Agora didn't open until 79 and, although, technically the 70's it's a bit of a stretch. I think it was October also but that's a bit hazy

We moved up from South London to Milton Keynes in 1980. I was at Stanton Middle and Stantonbury Campus during the 1980s. Bridgewater, not those Brindley twats. 😆 Seriously though, during the early 1980s they spared no expense on those schools and also on things for kids to do after school. It was great. When I tell people the kind of things Stantonbury Campus had they look at me like I am making it up. When I was 15 we returned to NZ where I was born. I hear my old school is not what it once was. It was privatized and now is on the national list of problem schools. I guess they could not keep up the funding levels the school had when MK was one of the government's pet projects. MK is all grown up now and has to make its own way in life. If they were smart, the local government would have kept the Campus at the level it used to be. Education is a cost, but when done well it's an investment (providing there are good jobs to go to and opportunities to thrive after education and skills training, etc). I was born here NZ, but due to growing up in MK and it being my formative years, it has felt like where I am from ever since. Kiwis have called me a Pom ever since too. P.S. My teacher at secondary school was Louise Mulligan. I guess a few MK folks may watch this and some of you might remember that class, or may have even been in it. They had a reunion a few years ago, but I was not able to fly over.

It's tragic that the Gables building was demolished and even worse that it was replaced with a tower block of flats. MK planning has not improved much since.

"Wolverton's first school 1950s" Surely some mistake?? 1850s maybe? The design is decidedly un-1950s, in any case.

The picture was supposedly taken in the 1950s I think. The first purpose built school in Wolverton is still there, occupied by the Town Hall and library. Creed St.

My old dad moved to Aspley Guise in the early 1950s, my mum moved to Bletchley from Tring in the mid 1950s, they moved to Woburn Sands when l was born and then soon moved to Fenny Stratford and still live there now, both of them hate what has become of the area, mum's dad was a building inspector for Bletchley Urban District council and l remember him saying MK would ruin the surrounding villages and towns and he was right, even Frank Henshaw who was head of the Development Corporation said that this current expansion was never part of the original plan, being based on the grid road system and a small surrounding area. l personally hate MK and what it has done to the countryside but others will like it!!!

I agree on the soulless part as people move in and out BUT as a financial entity for business sitting between London and Birmingham it’s brilliant! I myself live in a village outside of the place and travel in and out of the errrrrr, city/town/place for business. One thing l will add which was a VERY UNPLEASANT experience. We went for a meal at night in the Centre, came out at 11.30pm and were walking back to the car and were surrounded by what l can only call undesirables who were trying to encircle us!!! They were going to bloody mug us and would have if another car hadn’t come along, stopped and shone his headlights on these semi human things! So we won’t be going into the city late at night again!!!!

@@theaylesburycyclist8756 You don't have to be a great editor, you just have to have the knack of picking a soundtrack that works with the clips you're showing. This is harder than the editing. But it helps if you have an ear for music, aren't tone deaf, and don't think it's sufficient to slap any old soundtrack on. Music makes a clip or clips. Without the right music, the clips will have less power and meaning. As is the case here.
