Can't wait. I love Pictures at an exhibition and as a young guy trying to learn how to properly arrange his own pieces this is pure gold, so I'll suck it in.

10 hour course! incredible. Now I have to find the time to sit down and watch it all, and do exercises and stuff.

I’ve been looking for something like this and hoping you’d either do this, or Le Tombeau De Couperin. Looking forward to the series!

Genuinely annoyed -- in a breathless sort of way -- that we'll have wait till March to hear this. (The editing on this is also pretty nice.)

Nice editing. I play the last two pieces but I’ve got to say I prefer the original piano (albeit the rimsky version) in many ways because especially in the purely chaotic bits Mussorgsky really shows how you can make the piano dance. Also isn’t it amazing how almost every performer makes quite noticeable chances to the score. Not that it’s what was intended, but I like to imagine it as a tone poem for soul’s journey through purgatory, in the last piece it can glimpse the city of heaven before finally knocking on its gates.

I know they play the solo on tenor tuba to make it easier for the high notes during bydlo, listen to the Milan Orchestra performance with Gergiev and his bass-tuba player
@alonsoordonez64076 жыл бұрын
Since that movement represents an Ox, I think it's accurate to use the right big tuba even if it's way harder to play
@jamessnowden18336 жыл бұрын
@@alonsoordonez6407 the tuba ravel was writing for was a french 6 valve instrument, pitched with the fundamental a tone above that of a tenor tuba. So a tenor tuba is more appropriate to play the solo on than a CC tuba.
