The best coverage of an event I think I've ever seen. I never knew MTB racing was so exciting, Red Bull definitely helping to pique my interest, and of course Pidcock winning with such grace made it even better. The speed was a surprise... a fan from now on, everypne just seems to smile non stop

During actual event it is live streaming, aside from being it hard to switch between all the cams in real time, not all cameras are streaming live video. Also close ups you see are short clips of what would have been mostly crap footage if it was streamed live. So it makes sense to go over those footages in post production and select the short clips that actually add value or act like a B roll
@hobmarg
@hobmarg 3 жыл бұрын
There are limits to what you can reasonably produce live, they can't have unlimited live cam feeds being worked on in the truck and some of this looks like it's super high end cameras which I doubt you can have bandwidth to broadcast back to the truck, process the video and stream it live to the web.

I feel Pidcock and Lecomte have the perfect build (small and super lightweight) to crush everyone on a course like this especially when it is wet. They also showed they had the bike handling skills to win. Congrats!!

I think on the mens side he doesnt have the right build, he is just simply a freak of nature. Pushing the power of of the top guys who are more like 66-70kg at 50kg is not normal, he probably weighs the same or less than some of the women.

@@xxxmtb power to weight ratio is more important than outright power as I am sure you know. I don't follow XCO super close but there is always a lot of climbing on track which should favour smaller guys, same as road vs. TT.

@@Meme_supplier Partly true, for xc being light is quite good, especially climbing and more traction with the same tires. However suspension works better for heavier riders much easier to give suspension the right characteristics when the weight you are dealing with is higher.

Great to see Tom getting his first of what I hope will be many WC wins! People who are suspicious of him 'coming from nowhere' to win have not been following his career progression including junior 'cross wins. Baby Giro anyone. He's been riding MTB his whole life and has the skills to prove it. One of the trickiest things he has had to do was probably persuading Ineos to let him race MTB instead of just road and 'cross.

mvdp might be a little too heavy for such steep and long climbs. With cycle cross he can punch up the short steep climbs, but not with MTB. I think he will need to drop some weight to get a better watt per kg (if there is anything to drop). It is a joy to watch him, because of his power and fantastic racing style (taking no prisoners). Pidcock is truly built for this sport.
@andymiller3889
@andymiller3889 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. XCO is all about W/kg and how well do you climb. It was not an accident that both of the winners were incredibly small riders. Some courses will be more advantageous for those with top wattage, and some will go the direction of the lightest, but over a season, top W/kg will win-out.
@haddedoussama14
@haddedoussama14 3 жыл бұрын
MVDP is tall. I don't think he could drop any kilos. However, knowing that Pidcock is only 50 kilos is somehow insane!! I guess he has a better watt per kg ratio..

@@haddedoussama14 Just fyi, even though on the broadcast they've repeated that he's 50KG's he himself says he's 57-58KG's in a few different interviews now, which makes a lot more sense for a rider of his height. 50KG's at 1.7m would be truly skeletal. I'm guessing just like when people had his height at 1.57m, the 50KG weight probably came from numbers from when he was a junior.

@haddedoussama14
@haddedoussama14 3 жыл бұрын
No restrictions. As a matter of fact, they can use 2.1 up to 2.3 or maybe more. I think the reason they don't is the grip and friction those tires are going to make. So fast rolling tires would be more suited for racing..

I think it's time for the multi disciplinary riders to take over. This is the new way of doing things. Focusing on one discipline is no more sufficient to win races.
@davideamigoni6916
@davideamigoni6916 3 жыл бұрын
It is not because they are multidisciplinary riders the reason why they win, it is the opposite: they are freak of nature and they can win in any discipline. What is changing is the approach among the disciplines and the fact that the International Teams are more and more accepting to let these incredible riders to enjoy in different disciplines. On the other hand, they could benefit from different techniques leaning more skills as well as to build a more complete organism racing long distance, GC in road racing, short but extremely intense effort during cyclocross races and then, but not last, in mountain biking.

So... when do the results for EPO come out? Nvm, they will never will as Ineos owns the UCI... Unfortunately different measures for different riders, right? In 2010, there was a similar case with polish brothers winning the under-23 World Cross Country Cup who got caught with it, but unfortunately for them, they were poor and didnt even have money to contest the decision... very sad where this sport is going...
