Once my son & I went there in Pasadena, along California Ave. to have a taste of their pies & burgers, unfortunately we received shabby treatment from a fat lady who stood at the counter ( near the heavy metal cash register) right when u enter the door. Once seated at the first seat fronting Miss grouchy Lady, she nonchalantly left w/o saying a word of welcome or the standard resto parlance:"What's your order dude?"Instead she went straight to the far end had a brief chat w/ one of the customers there while I was waving my hand motioning her for an order-for the nth times. She refused to see me until I mixed some volume of voice w/ my body lingo. She came by albeit very slowly w/ quinting eyes and quipped: "Are u ordering or what?". Man I thought she had a BAD day or perhaps her ageing boyfriend just broke up w/ her and she's suffering from a bleeding heart! My son and I left w/o a word. At hindsight, I asked: "Was it simply because we were dark-skinned & diminutive in size?" WHO knows?
