both songs were made in close time.This one during ww1 by the Polish Legion and the one you mentioned in 1919 (well, lyrics are from 1885 , but in 1919 got the melody ). There might a be a conection . who knows.Maybe the polish song influenced the guy who made the melody for ''Geyers schwarzer haufen''.

Basically what happened was Romania wrote a song, Poland’s copied it, and Germany copied Poland’s copy of the original.
