Pied-Billed Grebe catches Salamander

Welcome-Actually I was viewing through an open door from inside an old farm building. We have been flooded last 2 years. Water surrounds us on 3 sides. I use a Sports Cam SJCAM SJ8 mounted to a spotting scope.

I couldn't decide whether to feel sorry for the salamander or happy for the grebe to have found a meal. Looked a bit indigestible! Great video.

Thank You. I am guessing the Grebe new what it was doing. I know I would have a hard time eating one.

That thing was huge! Godzilla vs the grebe! Reminded me of something I forgot about, I watched a seagull eat a great big starfish once - far larger than its head, couldn't believe he got it down, took about 20 minutes but he did!

Those Salamanders are tough and creepy thing to handle. I assume it might have taken that long for the Grebe to win this battle and tenderize enough for it to be eaten.

Amid quarantine, this is the closest thing I have seen to live sports! 😄

I don't know how long this battle went on. These salamanders are nasty things-tough as hell. Wouldn't suprise me if the salamander eventually swallowed the grebe.

@@fluffypeanutcat I was originally thinking the salamander should have tapped out MMA-style, but he does have a lot of fight! Miss you Uncle Karl, have a great Easter, will catch up with you guys when this lockdown thing is over!
