This is the kind of thinking that has put Canada in to a weaker position with current tariff disputes with the USA. Canada's population is only 35 million compared to 350 million in USA. Canada does not even have enough population to consume goods it makes and is a net exporter to the USA. Canadian GDP is directly tied with the US trade. Unless Canada has a consumer base of at least 150 million, Canada will be in a weak position with trade negotiations with other trading partners. Immigration is the only option to achieve a higher level of consumer base in Canada and people like Poliviere oppose them due narrow minded thinking.

Canadian kids will stand up against corruption and scams. They work hard to get good grades but when it comes to jobs, foreign workers are hired. Canada is the easiest country to convert student visas to PR/citizenship and take Canadian jobs. Make it official (law) to hire home grown. Other countries are doing it. I like the doctors licensing idea. Not sure why Canada did not do it until now when your neighbor country USA is doing it since so many years via USMLE.
