This video cleared up many concerns I've had about my reed-making and my results have been fantastic. I'm a woodwind doubler and never thought of the Oboe as my best horn but with this info I've taken my reed making techniques up a notch. Many thanks.

I'd like to see your knife sharpening that you're doing off-screen! I always say, the three rules of reed making 1. Have a sharp knife 2. Have a sharp knife 3. You can always take cane off, You can't put it back on!

A good video suggestion would be to make a video about your desk and work space and describe where or how you obtained those items . Then you could describe how or what you use it for. And all of your oboes too:) thanks for the video!

@@cmw12 Funny thing that you replied to this comment 9 years later but I finally got an oboe 25 days ago! I heard Legeres were released not that long ago, and I waited all these years. Delayed a bit due to pandemics that got me depressive and not willing to practice anything, I even left music for a job in IT... Well, I spoke to an oboist who recommended me the Ambipoly reeds by Silverstein and I'm waiting for them to arrive. I do have 8 cane reeds but it's hell. Each day one works, if it rains none work well. All my hopes are on synthetics, or I'll return the instrument. Other than that I'm playing alright, since I had played flute and sax for a few years around the time I made that comment. If all goes well I'm also considering a nice quality plastic oboe as well, heard good things about Thore Da Capo. The one I got is from the community orchestra, so no hurries on that though. I just don't understand how oboists deal with the cane hell on a daily basis. Flutists have it so much easier!

This is just black magic. I scrape, and scrape, and scrape, and produce utter crap. I probably need to sharpen my knife better.
