He wouldn't have embarrassed himself, as he said and did nothing wrong. It and he was made to sound wrong with clever tactics. I've seen this done many times. James O'Brien does it brilliantly. It's very dishonest to do it, by the way, by winning on intellect and guile, rather than on raw and embarrassing truth. When found out, later on, the perpetrators go rather silent.
