I was lucky to see Charles Aznavour twice, when aged 22 and 23. I worked for National Travel and asked my boss if we could arrange an excursion for Charles Aznavour, as there were many people asking. No one had expressed any interest to see him but I didn't have a car at that time, so thought it a great idea to invent these avid fans, in order that I could see my idol. My boss agreed to my request and fortunately we managed to secure the minimum of 10 people to run the excursion. It was an amazing experience and the next year, able to drive, I saw him again, armed with a pastel drawing I created of him and for him, though regrettably, I was too nervous and shy to try to give it to him. He still remains my idol even at age 67. RIP Charles Aznavour.

Wow, your story is great. I wrote a short poem coupled with a sketch of him on Wednesday for his 100th & posted it. I didn’t care if anyone liked it, because it gave me so much gratification to express my love for him. ❤

@@TenTenJ That's wonderful and as you say, it was your expression of love for him and his beautiful music. My Dad could never understand why a 22 year old woman would have such a passion for his music and the artist himself, though tbh, I likely drove my Dad insane playing his music at full volume every day.

@@TenTenJ My Dad called him Charles Aznovoice 🙄. Of course this massively hurt my feelings but it was in defense of my idol 😃

@@vanessahudson9788 oh my gosh. I just watched an excellent interview about his early life, how he faced a lot of difficulties getting started. Don't know if YT allows sharing links, but it was an old one "Arlene Herson Interviews Charles Aznavour." You might instead look it up rather than my comment not showing up.
