Nice video! One small tip, though: When you are showing in -Godot footage, try to zoom in on the editor. Most people can not always play >720p videos (Sometimes not even 480p, with my connection).

D: Sorry for that, I really forgot to do some zoom-in. I'll to make it more readable next time :D

I must agree with Γιώργος Τσιαμασιώτης. Make the Godot window fill the whole screen and test the video on a smaller display, like a 8 inches tablet.

The music is a bit too loud, your voice is fighting with the music. but overall very clear and understandable.

5:44 very clever to call it "mutation", because it's similar to how evolution and diversification of species work, right? Good video, I had issues handling this terminologies and finding the methods I actually need in each case, and you made everything more clear to me. Thank you!

I can't get scene inheritance to work as in your example. I have a base enemy and want to derive new enemies with different parameters. Unfortunately, the collisionShape always use their parent parameters: github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/13835 Is there a workaround?
@pigdev7 жыл бұрын
Nope, this is a known (which it fixed in 3.0) Some guys explained to me that collisionShape is just a helper and when the collision handles instanciates it frees theresource used for defining the shape (something like that). So the only way to properly inherit a collisionshape is to 1. Let the Physics node which will handle it in the parent scene without a CollisionShape node 2. Add the CollisionShape in the inherited scene. ex: A scene with a KinematicBody(with sprite etc...) then inherit this scene adda CollisionShape2D node and add a Shape2D resource then.

Is it better to use class_name or "res/...yourpath" to inherit in a script?
@pigdev5 жыл бұрын
class_name currently has some few bugs, but still I think it is better. Because it will store the current path to the .gd file and keep it up to date automatically. With you writting the path yourself you will need to update it manually
@alix64775 жыл бұрын
@@pigdev I didn't hear about these bugs and i didn't have any problem so far with class_name :| Yeah I tend to use class_name rather than the path for that reason, the path is changing several times during development, i'm glad i can do less for something simple, thanks! ^^

Very interesting, but the music made it really difficult for me to follow, as your mic isn't very good. I'd suggest lowering the volume for the music or dropping it altogether during the explanations.

Not to sound like a prick, but "PARADIGM" is pronounced "para"+"dime". :) Nothing new here if you read the docs. But great video anyways, thumbs up.
@pigdev7 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Unfortunately, search these contents in the docs is...kinda rare. I had the idea to make this video while chatting in the discord channel, someone was complaining about making a new scene with a different "trunk" just to instantiate a branch, and then I said "why don't you inherit the scene?". The guy got redpilled about this feature lol

@rafaelgpontes6 жыл бұрын
One tip: make videos in your mother tongue. Practice your English speaking skills before making new videos in this language. Your difficulty in speaking the words makes the video a bit more complicated to grasp. Great content, though.
