My question is why they have to breed so many pigeons to get one winner or ten winners
@ridarhridarh6845 жыл бұрын
So that they can win

Refreshing interview. However, his example of Bolt and Marion Jones implying that matching two champions of the opposite sex will automatically produce more winners of the same calibre is off target. They rarely do! Nature is the jealous creator of the species and is very critical of man's breeding intentions, especially when he tries to overturn Nature's breeding policy. She has her own laws for governing the reproduction of a specie. These natural laws, though immutable, are designed by Nature to preserve and perpetuate mediocrity. For every good pigeon bred some twenty-four others are not going to make the grade.

Richard, he1) Never said they produce winners automatically. 2) You need to study some genetics, to understand the road to winning.

He never implied that. I know it can be taken in a negative way but, he never implied that it automatically produces winners. It's a hope just like any sport breeding. If a horse wins the triple crown he is immediately sent to stud to try and catch lightening in a bottle. It seldom does. I am from the land of Usain Bolt and people always want to find out why we run so fast. I could not tell why we run so fast but, nature has its say...for the most part. I love pigeons. I got my first racing/Homers as a kid. But I raise Iranian High Flyers now. I just love to see them fly. And I do not abuse my pigeons nor do I/we ill treat them. I tend to spend too much money on them and go without buying groceries/food at times. Great interview and responses.
