Really good video imo! Also a clarification on the whole “meme” thing. Those are apart of a subculture of the animation community called “animation memes” which are different from regular memes. They often feature characters headbopping or dancing to music, and are sometimes really edgy, like the ones you showed

as a pretty big piggy fan, i can respect alot of the points you made. there are some things i disagree with but for the most part piggy does have a wide majority of issues, i think the community and game have gotten alot better with book 2 due to it having custom characters and a better story (for the most part). and some devs making more scary versions of the game itself. all my opinion though!

The point that sticks out the most is the ''memes'' one. Huge piggy fan here. Book 1 is horrendously unscary, but that's because the game was satire until chapter 4. Book 2 is a massive improvement on the game in terms of horror and story, I can see where your coming from there's alot of 4 year Olds littering on the game

Small note about the “meme” thing. The actual definition of “meme” is simply an idea or concept spread and propagated, humor has no influence. But in this case, “meme” has been coined by the animation community as a whole as a series of actions/scenes repeated by separate animators. Usually they’re not humorous, sometimes they’re edgy, other times they’re just fun. Nothing against ya, just a lil thing.

Tbh, I feel like if Piggy wasn't based on Peppa Pig of all things, it could've had more potential. I feel like the devs tried to go for a "Childhood Turned Horror" trope, and that can usually work. But I feel like it wasn't executed properly. Granted I'm not in the fandom and don't know much about the story, but if they had original characters or based it off of something else that already exists, it probably would've been a little better.

Just correcting that the "memes" are actually part of the animation memes community that you've probably seen in many titles in these videos mentioned. They are not supposed to be "funny memes/shitposts". If you search about it, they call it memes because the animations, most of them, are loops. I'm not mad, I just wanted to let you know, because unfortunately there are people who chease artists who make these animations and these ppl spam a lot of hate comments and even harass them, I never understend the reason, but yeah, this happened to artists who made a meme called "hot milk" and many go on their channel just to spam "Omni-man" and of course: repeating several times about "meme has to be funny" and shit and saying their animation is garbage for being "edgy" and that is quite annoying and tiring :/ Edit: And about the edgy memes: Not all community animations make that. I mean, if you call edgy for an animation like Piggy's, it's even understandable "Omg my eye is dark oOOoOoo spoooky" I don't know if edgy is also defined for things that contain horror content, because there are some horror animations that in my opinion, are a little scary and good. I'm a piggy fan, and I agree with a lot of the points you make. The game is far from perfect. But here's some clarification on things: Some characters (especially book 1) are based on Peppa pig characters, but not the characters in the show. Doggy in Piggy is a police officer in his 20s. The character in Peppa pig is a toddler. Once book 2 came around, characters like Tigry, Willow, and TIO gave the game a more unique feel and distanced itself from Peppa pig. From what we know, most characters are in their 20s besides Georgie, The Twins, and Mr. P. TIO is a weird creature-demon thing so he doesn't really have an age. This is one thing I know as someone who makes animation memes myself: it's not the meme you're thinking of. I'm not sure why its called a meme, but its like a looped animation to a song. Piggy got itself to where it is today because of the animation memes based off of characters and the story. The separate parts of the story are called "books" because each different level/map is labeled as a chapter. The game is aimed at about a 6-11 range, so that's why it isn't as scary as, say, FNAF. There is a sequel to the gamed called Piggy: Intercity which is aimed at a 13+ playerbase. It's play style is similar to something like Breath of the Wild.

I gotta fix some things, 1. Piggy intercity is not supposed to be aimed at older audiences. 2. The twins aren’t a demon. The last one now, 3. Piggy intercity is not a sequel, book 2 is. Honestly this video is very solid, only problem I have with this is the misinterpretation of 'animation memes' (7:55) . Animation memes do not correlate with memes in the sense of humor. Most of the time it's just a piece of media or audio that animators, novice or more experience, do their own spin on. It's more of a subculture you'd need some context to understand, but yeah. I'd recommend learning more about it, if you're curious looking into it's overall long standing time on the internet.

Oh, I can correct you on that meme part. Animation memes aren't typical funny memes, they're referred to as memes due to the original meaning of the word just being something that is copied and changed slightly over and over. Animation memes typically take a section of a song and animate a character doing something to the song, which is then mimicked over and over by other animators. It's a common critique that people call these things memes even though they aren't funny, but thats because the term of a meme has become somewhat lost in internet culture. These aren't exclusive to Piggy, its just there was a sudden influx of memes relating to Piggy from the weird fandom burst so now it appears as though Piggy was just the origin of it. Other than that this is a good video.

This is coming from a person who loves piggy a lot, I play the game a lot and enjoy it, I just wanted to clear up a couple of things real quickly. Minitoon, when making the game’s first chapter, wasn’t intending for it to be a full game, he was mainly testing out ai path finding and decided to mix up granny and peppa pig as a joke, after making a couple of chapters, the game out of no where unexpectedly blew up so he decided to start adding a story to it, as he continued on, it still wasn’t that scary of a game but he got better at making the game itself, you may notice as the game went on in book 1 the maps got more detailed, I feel like book 2 is the best part of piggy though, the game feels more like a horror game and at times is a lot more fun, along with the maps being a lot more detailed, I suggest you try book 2, it’s a lot better as a horror game than book 1. As the game continued on though, he also redesigned and renamed a few of the characters to avoid copyright, you may have noticed if you searched piggy up, you find 2 different designs each character. When people think of piggy, they often think of a granny ripoff with peppa pig, but looking deeper into what it’s been developed into today shows that it’s branched off into its own thing, even book 2 has its own original soundtrack. As for the community, it isn’t really the best but I’ve met some amazing people in it. Just wanted to put this here to clear up a few things.

PIGGY shows that not every horror game needs to be absurdly scary to be good, just like Baldi's Basics, Hello Neighbor, among others. But visually it rarely shows that it is really scary like the Breakout chapter, even skins, Uncle, Carver, Dakoda, Piggy(Distorted), and there are details that are scary like the detail of Raze BEING a character who was tortured, the legless friend in the port, bizarre sounds in the chapters of book 2, in short, it can be scarier than Rainbow Friends, if you don't think so it's because you didn't pay attention to the details, or you're already used to horror things. Finally, never judge a book by its cover.

I know this is super late and you've probably already heard this, but when you talk about the "memes" in the Piggy community, you're probably actually seeing "animation memes", which are different In that they're not funny, low effort, and edgy as all get-out. I guess they're actually supposed to be ways to "practice" animation and stuff, by making short "fandom" animations set to music, but like, it just kind of all falls flat. If you're looking for something funny, do not look at animation memes. But also Piggy looks like it sucks

Lorewise, you could say piggy takes place in an alternate universe, since some fharachters are called different names so they didnt get sued. At first MiniToon (The creator of Piggy) wanted to stick to a memey game about Peppa Pig but in a Granny enviroment. But when the actual owners of the show threatned the creator with a lawsuit he made alot of changes to the charachters, therefore theyre already Adult-ish.

Piggy is more of a story driven puzzle game, the original intention wasn't really to scare the player, just for the player to have fun. Then later in book 2 it tried to go for a horror approach, where it failed in most cases (TIO, insolence eye, the trap thingy) and almost succeded in some (distorted piggy, breakout chapter).

I think that over time minitoon got better at this game (like how the story and layout of the maps is just better in book 2) and the Tigry character focus chapter is very good, between the atmosphere, the bot AI, the puzzle, and the animation I think if minitoon could try and go back and fix some of the old chapters to be something like this it could make it much cooler

One of my friends mentioned that if you take away the story and the lore,then it’s still the same game (and how that you mention it,it does seem similar to ST:3). Overall pretty good video. To be honest, Minitoon should've never added the Insolence into the story. Like, TIO is telling me that his "friend" caused the infection because apparently he got too powerful. Granted, it's still a bit of a mystery and not really confirmed yet, but considering the fact that in the NEXT chapter, TIO literally mentions that Mr. P caused the infection because of "free will" and now you got two separate reasons as to why the infection exists. Add in the fact that the Insolence can teleport any infected with orange eyes, and it makes the lore Piggy has to offer kind of cheap. I feel like Piggy's world is one of those worlds where supernatural stuff is out of place, and it shows. Just have the infection, the infected, and the cure there and boom, you got an already decent story. Knowing that the Insolence exists in Piggy honestly made me a bit uninterested in its story, and I'll wait to see if Intercity manages to mess that up even further.
