Very true. 30min is not needed at all. I do abs at least some abs sets every day and my abs are epic.

short daily abs workouts are dumb, if you're looking to grow them. Abs work like any other muscle group, they are not special. Hit them hard, close to failure for 2-4 sets 2-3 times a week for optimal growth. You'd never do 6-8mins daily for any other muscle, why would it work better for abs?
@ExplorerBen725 күн бұрын
@pedrojorge2741 short daily bodyweight ab training is good for definition and more core stability. If trying to grow them you replace 2 days a week with weighted ab training and can increase the time or do a certain amount of sets and exercises instead.
@cajampa25 күн бұрын
@@pedrojorge2741 most also don't do 2-3 or more days of the week for most other muscle groups. But abs seem to really like often and hard, at least it works great for me. I just like to do at least some hard quick sets on some muscle groups, most days in a week even on non full workout days, another one that really seem to like and can take very often hard is calfes. They seem to really grow good from heavy high volume every day but low sets. Maybe just one with many reps. I mean just look at those who have been very "large" are usually gifted with massive calfes when they finally slim down. But just to be clear I am not looking for any kind of BB look. I am always targeting maximum lean jacked ripped athleticism. Because I actually like to use my poweful body to do all kinds of dynamic fun things. If one is targeting maximum hyperthropy maybe less often and much lower reps is better and would grow faster and bigger. But I don't want that I want max speed and sustainable cardio for running/sprinting and max explosive height for jumping. And just a good split of slow and fast muscle fibers for maximum function. And not maximum size or even strength. Because when you get over certain size and strength you don't really get more functional or capable. And that is what I am after, more of daily usable potential and when I want it tons of explosive and sustained stamina.
@HoHhoch18 күн бұрын
@@pedrojorge2741 Because you don't train every muscle the same? Different muscle groups recover at different rates. Some muscle groups, like your core, don't really need to be trained at all as long as you're doing compound lifts where you're focusing on your form. Your core will be trained just by keeping good form.

it's normal for gym guys to believe that the usual "5, 10, 30 minutes abs workout follow along" wont give you any results and you should just stick to machine training. the solution is very simple: as long as you reach failure, rest and go to failure a few more times, you are doing really well, no mather the exercise. be it in a 5 minutes battle with your abs, resting and going for more, or just stick to machines and battle your abs there. if your approach to abs include failure, congratulations. you'll be packed up in no time. What is your estimate body fat percentage? Would you consider going through a cutting phase for 30 days to see how much muscle definition you would see and how much body fat you would loose in just 30 days? I am very curious what you would weigh after cutting for 30 days. Something I want to do myself, but not sure if I have what it takes to cut calories and loose some muscle mass. At 63 it is so hard to build and maintain what muscle I have. But at about 20% body fat, I would love to be at 16 or even 17 percent. Currently I live vicariously through your videos :-) Keep them coming...

People are gonna hate and say “you should know that’s not how you build a solid core” or whatever and yeah, i do actually think you knew what the outcome of this would be. building abdominal muscles should be treated the way we treat all the other muscles. overworked and over trained will have a more negative than positive result. great video. always a fan 💪🏼

Abdominals are muscles that constantly work. So thos fibers will have a much larger ST ratio Endurance. So a longer set and more of them helps... But yeah, you need it to be *Harder* too. Though, I would do that aspect by Breath work. Actively Panting at the first sets to burn through all of the glycogen that's there... And then Switch to *gulping* As much air as possible and holding my breath as I go. The panting- Removes CO2 from the blood, which makes it harder to access the Oxygen. Gulping and holding- Forces you to get used to more CO2 in your system, and gives you more access to the Oxygen. CO2 Lowers acidity(More acidic...). Releasing Oxygen Raises Acidity(less acidic). Both force your body to make your Mitochondria more efficient. Also... Make your body more insulin sensitive.

I think you would've grown 20-25% more if you stuck to 5-10 sets, 2-3 days a week *maybe 4, depending on recovery*. But realistically, you'd need to bulk during that time, then continue to train and cut down to the same bodyfat you were before to make any serious notable changes to your abdominal size
@cajampa26 күн бұрын
You don't need to do that much even, just a few heavy abs sets to failure is enough to grow them great. They like to get hit often and heavy. But I have never noticed any big benefits to going lots and lots of sets for abs. Like for example the back or arms really like lots and lots of sets to grow great. But the abs seem to recover way faster but also need way less sets to grow. Just often and heavy.
@austinjutte485526 күн бұрын
@cajampa I'm not saying you're wrong. But everyone's genetics is different. I was more talking about specialized abdominal training focused on hypertrophy. Trainning was suboptimal. Abs should be trainned like any other muscle if the objective is hypertrophy, so: - Abs grow through abdominal flexion, movements that don’t provide that flexion won’t train your abs - adding weight : as soon as the body adapted you should’ve progressively overload to promote muscle growth - rest: training any muscle group without rest days will most certainly hinder muscle growth, since is exactly during the resting period the muscle is able to recover and grow. Train your abs like you would train any other muscle group.

First, clearly you are in shape. Planks and leg raises can increase core strength. And, you have good abs! But, to increase visibility, genetics of where fat is deposited is an issue. Most men gain fat at the love handles and lower belly. Longer term changes in eating may be required to get that body fat percentages in the 12% - 15% range, for better ab visibility. Although some men store fat away from abs, resulting in good visibility, even some average bodybuilders don't have 'good' abs unless they flex and are in cutting phase. ... beach body shape. ;-) Vacuums may also help to strengthen transverse abs [which helps strengthen core muscles], and improves ability to flex abs. So, on average, unless blessed with good genetics, if you want beach body abs, you may want to start reducing calories now, while also strengthen abs for core, and doing some ab flexing exercises. It may be worth it... Or the dieting may not be fun, and the continual flexing exercises may be tiresome. ;-)
