I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2024 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?
@foden7005 ай бұрын
Just ''buy the dip'' man. In the long term it will payoff. High interest rates usually mean lower stock prices, however investors should be cautious of the bull run, its best you connect with a well-qualified adviser to meet your growth goals and avoid blunder

You should try selling shorted put options. You don't need to invest any of your own money, and even if you 'lose' in the option and have to buy the stock, you still get to buy it with at the discount of the premium you received from the buyer. Since you'd then own the stock, you could potentially sell it later on for a capital gain, which is more likely since you would've bought the stock during the dip, which means greater returns could be made once the stock price goes higher. I'm only 15 tho so idk if that makes any sense or not

18:07 the loss is also pretty insane, as an option trader i must say you were really lucky if not you would have lost it all. Also kindly add disclaimers, option trading is extremely volatile if not approached properly with proper guidance and psychology it could lead to heavy losses. playing with stock options is gambling. straight up. full stop. it comes with all the downsides of gambling; anxiety, depression, addiction, etc, etc, etc. know this and if you insist on proceeding, do so with great caution by approaching it like a professional gambler would. expect to lose everything on that hand. so don't bet too much. and don't bet too often. wait, wait, waaaaaaiiiit for the ideal setup. unfortunately the only way to identify an ideal setup is to spend much of your life working hard studying what an ideal setup might look like. most of your time will be spent studying, not trading.

If you are a seller of options, taking advantage of the time value decay (theta) of options, keep in mind that the options will auto-exercise at 4PM on the day of expiration if they are $0.01 in the money at the market close (4PM Eastern time). ALSO - keep in mind that the options trading desk is open until 5:30PM Eastern, so if your options move into the money in after-hours trading (4-5:30PM Eastern), the buyer of the options can EXECUTE them by calling their brokerage. So, even though your short calls/puts may be out of the money on the date of expiration at 4PM, they may move into the money after hours and you may find the next day that your options have been exercised and you have purchased (in the case of short puts) or sold short (in the case of short calls) many hundreds of shares!

Easy to play with small money but when it comes to making 10 times more or 100 times more its a different psychology which more panic takes over. Watch out for stocks that do not have volume or else it would be harder to sell or the bid and ask price can be a high gap. It is not as easy as you present it but its a start.

Pin this comment!!!! This is a warning to all that are curious about options trading with close expiration dates. Option contract have math built into them that determines their market value. There is something called the Greeks and there are a few different ones. Theta in this context of short term expiring options contract put or calls effect the options Contract more significantly because there is no time premium. As time tics down to the expiration value is sucked out of the contract and is profitable to the seller of the option contract. Something to keep in mind.
@Kingmcnees237 ай бұрын
Implied volatility is also something that is overlooked in this video. Volatility On base level represents the possible size of a possible move in the stock price in the future. When volatility is increased, the premium (cost of the contracts) rises based on the potential of a larger move. As a buyer of the contract this affects you the most. You can make an accurate prediction on where the stocks price will go and STILL LOSE!!! This is one of the most overlooked things when it comes to new option traders.
