The birds looked like they weren’t starved enough and trap training should always include food being served and them coming in to eat for at least two weeks once they show me that they can do this properly and vigorously then i think of letting them out and when they come out their crops are empty prompting them to respond to food quickly

Yes I agree the birds were definitely over fed! Otherwise they would have trapped much much faster and not gotten soaked in the rain ⛈ 😆

2 Old German Owls and the rest are Tipplers 🕊 🕊 🕊

I wouldn’t bother them when you’re training them. You don’t want to spook them. Let them do their thing. Once they get comfortable with coming out on their own and going in on their own they’ll be fine. I would starve them for a day before I let them out so you can control them with your feed.

You should separate both breeds. Tipplers should be trained alone so when they land on the coop. Then it will should the owls to only land on the coop then to try to fly with the tipplers. Which will cost the tipplers not to want to fly a lot due to the matter that German owls can not keep up or fly like tipplers do at all.

Yup I agree. Being the first day out I wasn't expecting the tipplers to fly. Was more interested in seeing what would stick and what would not. We are happy the Old German Owls are trapping on their own and familiar with landing on the loft. Ended up only losing 1 blue bar Tippler. It was an old bird.

birds were not hungry enough it looked like remember the food controls everything if they were starving they would of been much easier first time out

Love your videos bro. If you need any more tipplers let me know. I’d be willing to donate a bunch to you. I have plenty of young birds and breeders. Whatever you prefer. Let me know.

Really appreciate it Mike and thank you for the support. I hope you are aware these birds aren't mine. Simply helping out Rich who is a first time pigeon keeper. He reached out to me a few months back about keeping pigeons and how to get started etc. Iv been trying to help him with the knowledge I have - which isn't a lot, but has worked well for me in the past. I'll be back in the game one day though!

@@NE_Pigeons I’m aware. I never got involved in this hobby to make money. Although I do sell birds to help with feed costs I also like helping people get started. It’s how you keep the hobby alive.

He got lucky with the hawk! Must have been a juvenile. Only made 2 weak attempts to catch the birds and missed both times.

Must let the birds out hungry. Looks like those birds were not hungry otherwise the minute you called them in they would trap right away

Bingo! They were fed late the day prior and released early that morning. Also we are working on dialing in the right amount of feed for the 12 birds.

What you did wrong was to irritate the hell out of the birds every time they came back to the loft.

@@NE_Pigeons On the birds first time you need to leave them alone. All that walking around the loft, rattling cans and waving nets scares the birds.
