In regards to the pigs getting an update, something that i noticed as i was thinking about the passive minecraft mobs, it's one of the few that hasn't really been messed with in a long time. Squids, got Glow-squids wolves got new variants and armor Sheep can be dyed to a wide array of colors There are many different colors of parrots Multiple kinds of Panda So many cats there's an achievement for getting them all Camels, armadillos, lamas, goats, axolotl, and Allays are all recent additions Many different kinds of horses and armor for them So what's left? Cows, chickens, and pigs...Cows haven't changed in a long time but they are more necessary than the others, and changing them could cause issues with loot tables and such so likely why they aren't being messed with. Chickens also haven't been messed with but they drop even more things than cows, and making more variants could be tricky as well (don't know coding/programming so unsure there). That leaves pigs...they only drop one thing, porkchops (cooked if you catch them on fire first)...That also makes them easy to mess with. The squid only drops ink, glow squid only drops glow ink. It's a simple change, for 1 item drop tables. This update makes the pigs a little more interesting, but it's not over the top, and can help with figuring out if you're in a different climate for dealing with all the frogs, as you have to get them to different climates. I think this is a visual representation, just like the different kinds of wolves are. So I expect later on we will likely be seeing updates to the other passive overworld mobs as well. The End portal frames not being able to be broken...I'm KIND OF okay with, and kind of not. As a builder, and with my own forever world...I'd rather not have a load of different portals that lead to the end all over the place...once I have 1 i'm fine. So in that regard being able to delete them somehow makes sense to me, considering they just get in the way otherwise. However, because that mechanic is used for duplication of items like sand and concrete powder and even other items that you bounce through the side of the portal to make a copy go through and such...I can see why it's being taken out. Duplication like that was never meant to be in the game...the same could be said for the TNT world eaters that dupe TNT for breaking the world appart...again sand is a finite resource. So if they are taking away the ability to make more sand easily, they should add something like the husks dropping sand when players take them down. That way there's a renewable resource, instead of uprooting EVERY desert and still not having enough sand, because you need it for so many things. Glass, TNT, concrete powder...It sounds like not a lot, then you think about all the colors of concrete powder, and the fact that sandstone and all its variants are limited due to small mounts of sand, and you can likely see the problem. Because of finding this out though...I think I'll likely make a portal that's already got the eyes in but all the portal blocks gone, so that if i NEED to dupe sand in my forever world I can...but yeah... The extra particle effects of the falling leaves in my opinion is a blessing and a curse...for areas that don't have a lot going on, it can be nice to see the particles from time to time. BUT like Troj mentioned, the particle effects make the game laggy. even with just the particle effects of a end portal and a spore blossom in the same place, you can see people's FPS drop, same for spore blossom particles AND the cherry blossom particles. Worse is the new leave thing on the ground...yes it adds to ambiance as well...but if it's anything like loading vines in a jungle, prepare for those biomes where they spawn to lag. This already happens a bit in cherry blossom biomes with the petals on the ground and the particle effects from the leaves...I'm not expecting these to make it any better. Talking about the nether stuff. I've always thought that the zombie pigmen (piglins) shouldn't have dropped xp just from being aggroed onto a player when squished. So this change I'm fine with...what I'm more concerned about is something that was mentioned in passing, i think in Xsuma's video, that the nether portals that have been lit will act like chunk loaders in the nether and overworld now...this can cause MAJOR issues on servers, and likely even for solo worlds...Think of how many nether portals you have around the world, and how many are at the AFK spot for farms...all of those things will be LOADED in all the time...this will cause even more lag...I'm not sure if i understood it right, as i mentioned, it was stated in passing. But if i did understand it right, that raised MAJOR alarm bells in my head. For the updates to the server, I'd say it's best to put it to a vote. choices being as follows. Update the server once ever 3 months to get the content from the last 3 drops Update with the actual UPDATES which will likely be like before Update once a month by having a small crew dedicated to this task. Personally I think the every 3 months thing would be the most that I'd say for it to be, but then again I tend to be a more relaxed and chill player who doesn't have to have all the bells and whistles the INSTANT they come out. In regards to "when do you make a new world"...honestly, I would say no matter what the drops are, the new world creation should be in line with a major update. For example if someone was running a server in 1.13...the village and pillage update really didn't mess with world gen MUCH, it really only added the pillager outpost structure to the world generation...Buzzy Bees which one 1.15 wasn't super huge either and there were ways to get the items from those without going super far for them...HOWEVER 1.16 was a MAJOR update in regards to completely overhauling the Nether. Some tried and managed to just cut the Nether and see what came up when it was respawned in because of it being a different dimension, but it still broke things like Dynmap and such that had information loaded in before the cut and then had to figure out what was what, and made a lot of map mods in the nether a MESS. The changes in 1.17, 1.18 , and 1.19 were all fairly large changes to the overworld that required a lot of resetting of chunks to get everything in, so those would have been SHORT seasons on servers if they made new worlds with each one, though 1.19 into 1.20 and even 1.21 the changes haven't been TOO massive to the over world, even with the mangrove, cherry blossom biome, and the pale gardens being added in...most of these biomes aren't super big, yeah some mangroves can be, but most of the cherry blossom biome and even the pale garden biome, tend to be rather small compared to other biomes...In regards to the pale garden, this actually kind of upset me, because I actually wanted a big creepy forest to explore...but most are super small, only covering like 10 chunks or so total sometimes even less in the amount of space, there's some that only take up about 4 chunks of space. So i can understand just cutting the chunks those are in so they can spawn and not resetting the world. but 1.16 and 1.19 being the start of new worlds because of massive changes makes a LOT of sense. Just a few thoughts from me, love you guys

Pig variants isn't bad, it will give more life and it doesn't give additional items, it's nice to see variants of mobs. I do like the leaf litter and falling leaves but as you say tweaking it so it's not overkill, not in every biome or different amounts. Hopefully, it will be more client side so that individuals can set their own settings. I believe they will change the different leaves to match the tree. I really like the change to lodestone, makes it soo much better to be able to be used in decorations.

As far as the drops I am okay with waiting for semi-annual updates. Maybe we could have a test world with a short drop-to-drop experiences. Basically with new selected world seeds every drop, but with the idea not to take too much away from IR World 4 and onward.

Notch hated the attention etc of being the face and creator of minecraft, that is why he sold to microsoft, he would be crazy to even attempt minecraft 2, there's MILLIONS more people playing the game and have even bigger opinions than ever before. Like you say he's doing it for attention and creators covering it is clickbait

i think the server should update only for something major. such as the actual updates like 1.20 and then 1.21 and so on, not the little drops during the time between. unless theres something in the drop that's significant enough that could encourage the server to be updated such as a bunch of new blocks to build with, cause lets be honest, all the builders on the server would want to play with them. for me, I am in no hurry to have every little thing that drops the second it comes out. i could wait for that until the next major update. it feels unrealistic to update the server every single time something changes. also... i miss your outro's i always got a giggle from them. would you bring them back?
