"Pigs (Three Different Ones)" is a song from Pink Floyd's 1977 album Animals. In the album's three parts, "Dogs", "Pigs" and "Sheep", pigs represent the people whom Roger Waters considers to be at the top of the social ladder, the ones with wealth and power; they also manipulate the rest of society and encourage them to be viciously competitive and cutthroat, so the pigs can remain powerful

To me it is a masterpiece and prophecy at the same time...Mind you it was G. This is song is actually about a pro-censorship nutjob. Roger Waters wrote this about Mary Whitehouse, a British woman who led a movement to keep sex off TV. He felt Whitehouse had no right to decide what other people should watch. Speaking to Mojo magazine Waters recalled: "Oh, she was everywhere pontificating on TV. Interfering in everybody's life, making a nuisance of herself and trying to drag English society back to an age of Victorian propriety."

The guitar work in this whole song is top notch, though in my opinion the final 2 mins is amongst some of the finest most epic ever laid down. There we go. All these people are saying it’s about one specific politician or another. The whole lot of them suck. There have been pigs ever since we’ve been electing officials.

Just went to see Brick Floyd. Such a good show. So this is how a "real" Pink Floyd show was. Loved it.

We expanded our minds to this album more than any other. When the tabs hit the tongue,Animals 8 track went in and stayed on repeat all through the trip. Still my go to on the less frequent occasions now when I'm 61. Lost my ego and saw the oneness of everything just as wave upon wave of demented avengers marched cheerfully out of the dream. 1400ug, and I made it back!

Had the joy of seeing Brit Floyd the other night. Great group. I will never get to see PInk Floyd but this group is spot on and well worth going to see. Thanks for the song.

Aw, come on! I almost saw Brit Floyd but tickets sold out and it was fine because I heard another good one was Australian Pink Floyd Show. But then, I went online, was about to buy tickets, but then realized I wasn't available on the date. Yes, I won't ever get to see PF too, but I've always wanted to see a Pink Floyd cover band and now that won't happen any time soon. It sucks because I have heard that those 2 cover bands are the best PF cover bands around and will have to wait around till next tour :( On a better note (for me), how was the concert?

My favorite album since I was 14 years old from Pink Floyd! I am 62 years old now and this album is still straight to the point!
@robertdavidson93935 жыл бұрын
Since a kid listened to Floyd in some ways they always remain relevant.. the idea in the Animals album is that the Sheep eventually overcome the Pigs...Orwells ideas in Animal Farm seem borrowed somewhat here as the Pigs represented the establishment....ruling class so indicative of some of what we see happening a lot today..it's always going to be like this historically ..Waters has always had some political songs to vent..well actually bitter as this album sounds it however remains somewhat prophetic of our times..even on a global scale..of course Waters has a bit of a different take on the PIG these day's!
