August 4, 2022 | Introducing Gloamer, our all new all-analog, polyphonic amplitude synthesizer that alters the attack and decay time of any sound source without sacrificing the fidelity of the original tone.
Tone Maps
01:48 - String Theory - Beautiful violin-like sounds
03:31 - Blended Swell - Volume swell on top of dry signal
04:27 - Triggered Tremolo - Pick-triggered tremolo effect
Gloamer is an all-analog, polyphonic amplitude synthesizer that alters the attack and decay time of any sound source without sacrificing the fidelity of the original tone. Its attack function provides a pick-triggered volume swell: a cinematic “slow gear” effect that is smooth and controllable with variable timing from extremely fast to very slow. The volume swell cycle can be reset at any moment by muting, allowing players to craft bowed string-like lines and chords with ease. Gloamer also features a powerful optical compressor that can add subtle punch or extreme sustain, helping to maintain a smooth volume swell effect even with very long attack times. A Volume knob controls loudness at the peak of the attack cycle, while a master Blend control allows players to layer an uncompressed clean sound in with the volume swell effect. Additionally, when activated, the Decay function causes notes to fade out once the attack cycle is complete. When the decay cycle is completed, an auto-reset function causes the attack to begin again immediately, as long as there is audio input. This allows you to create a wide range of undulating, asymmetrical tremolos at slower settings as well as pulsating stutter effects when using faster attack and decay times.

I really enjoyed the demos from this pedal and the others you guys have put out recently. Very melodic and really shows exactly what these pedals can do on guitar. I would love to see some bass guitar exclusive demonstrations though! Thanks again

This sounds so rad. Could you use it as a pure compressor without swell? I get that swell is the main point of it, but i am looking for a compressor anyway; so would be nice to have the option.

not so much, since it wasn’t intended to be used as a standalone compressor. The closest way to get it to work as a standalone compressor is to turn the attack knob all the way down and the sensitivity knob all the way up. If you're looking for a stand along compressor check out our Philosopher's Tone or Philosopher's Gold which has germanium distortion as well! www.pigtronix.com/pedals/

No, Gloamer is a different design and features its own circuit.

Tone maps are just different settings we came up with that you can dial into. If you dig the tone, dial into the same settings as us to match it!

PIGTRONIX< you should have made this pedal in a smaller enclosure like a 1590B with top jacks this is way to big to fit on a pedal board. The origin effects green overdrive Halycyon has an adaptive mode which is very sensitive to picking attack. If the pedal has a send/return jacks so you can put any overdrive pedal in the loop so the Gloamer can have an adaptive mode for pedals like tube screamers, fuzz faces, octavias, etc that will be very sensitive to picking attack from microvolts uV to millivolts mV from the guitars output jack. This will make any overdrive pedal and fuzz pedal be more like a tube amplifier that is very sensitive to picking attack.

A blend control on a slow gear? Why?! I’ll keep my Philosopher King. The CV outs are priceless.

The Gloamer distills the best features of the Philosopher King and its predecessor, the Attack Sustain into a smaller pedal that runs on 9V. The critical thing the Gloamer has that was missing from the Philosopher King is the BLEND knob. Along with the BLEND knob, there is new power supply circuitry in the Gloamer that allows the unit to run on standard 9VDC pedal power while internally boosting the voltage up to 18VDC to recreate the outstanding headroom of our previous designs.

@@PigtronixPedals I just don't see the need for a blend knob. On a synth, there is not a blend on the ADSR. Isn't that the point? When I scored my Boss Slow Gear back in the 90's, I was never like "where is the effect mix?!". Don't get me wrong, I love your stuff...usually. But in the R&D, maybe take some time. Despite my Philosopher King being a massive pedalboard hog, when bypassed, the CV outs would feed my Frostwave MS-20 clone...it was invaluable back then. Pigtronix has a long and rich history of creating stuff that you never knew you needed, but lately...I dunno.
