Sorry for my 2 weeks long disappear, I was preparing for moving to Edinburgh for my Master course. I was so busy that I confusedly delete some scene in this Pikachu Tutorial. But lucky me that the delete part is sewing scene not the crochet part. Even thought the open semester is coming, but I will keep the channel going on with at lease 2 videos per month. :)

I asked under someone else's comment so you may not have seen, but when you do your sl, do you put it in the ch that you started the round with? I tried putting it in the first actual sc but it had a visible seam. Thanks!

I do sl on the first sc, and yes it had a seam which not that clearly visible (not visible at all for people who don't know how to crochet). The trick is you have to be careful when doing a sl to join the round, if it too loose, it will become more visible. In my case, when I did sl on the first ch, the seam becomes even more visible. You can choose to skip both sl and ch, and work on spiral instead if you want a seamless one. It should not affect the doll's shape. To be honest with you, the reason I end the round with sl and start with ch because personally, I don't like working on spiral. Even though I use a stitch marker, I still lost the track of the round. And the end result is worst than a seam. I hope my answer is helpful. :)

I have always wanted to know is it necessary to start with a magic circle? What if I make a circle by slip stitching first and last of a chain of say, four? Then go from there

Any method that makes you finish the first row with 6sc in a circle shape is OK. (I didn't even do the magic ring in the vdo) Some people have loose hand tension and by starting with other ways they accidentally created a hole.

Do you need to put eyes on before you stuff it? And written pattern doesn't state where to put the safety eyes so where should it be put on?

I use regular plastic eyes, not the safety one. So, I always sew the eyes at very last step so I can adjust the position as I want (as you can see in the video). I already give away the doll to someone, so it impossible for me to tell you the exact row to put the eyes on. Sorry.

For small projects like this would a 2.5 needle or 3.5 needle be best? I was recommended a 2.5 but I noticed you use 3.5 :)

I am a tight crochet person, I used to use 2.5 mm. for over a year, the finished doll is super tight and kind of hard and my hand hurt so bad. I tested with every size of hook available and 3.5 is best for my tension. The hook size depends on the yarn and your tension, you may have to experiment with it. You should ask the yarn store what size of hook they recommend for that yarn. Then ask if they are allow you to test the hook with the yarn or not, test the similar size and see which one is the best(in case you don't buy the whole set like I did). :D

Maybe because of the sl and ch when starting every round, if you crochet these too loose, it can turn into a visible seam.

I am having some trouble with the arms when I slip stitch I get 5 stitches on round one instead of 4. Do you know what I'm doing wrong?

Sorry for delay answer. May be sl in the wrong place, I am not sure. Don't worry just skip some increase in the next round, so the number of stitch in Rnd2 is match. It not gonna affect the shape that much.

Pete Certain you put the sl st in the first chain... Or if you want, work in a spiral, (do not chain at start or slip stitch at end) if you do spiral method I recommend a stitch marker
