Pikachu Talking - Multi Language Compilation (Pokemon Movie 20: I Choose You)

In the 20th Pokemon movie, Pikachu actually talked, so dubs around the world had to dub his one moment of dialogue.
I only included dubs I managed to find, so if this or that language isn't here, that's why.

I like how in Japanese (for someone who is used to hearing the language at least) it's clear that Pikachu is struggling to form words just so he can tell Ash how he feels in such an emotional moment. Most dubs made it sound like Pikachu could always talk and just never chose to until this moment, which is less impactful.

I prefer the *Japanese* in this scene because of the same voice of Pikachu can actually talk after keep saying the same lines like pika pika. I don't mean different voice dubs like the English. The voice of Pikachu is *Ikue Otani*, not the different voice dubs where Pikachu talk to Ash in this scene. Otani has been voicing Pikachu for 24 years now since 1997 (JP dub begins in 1997 and the ENG dub begins in 1998), the same goes to Ash/Satoshi's VA, *Rica Matsumoto.*

They used the same voice actress for pikachu they've always had, since his voice is actually someone voicing it. The reason it sounds unnatural in English is because pikachu's voice actress is Japanese and they don't replace his lines in the dub version, so they got someone else for that part.

When Pikachu speaks human language in the *original Japanese dub, that's the same Pikachu voice. It’s Ikue Otani.* Along with Satoshi (English name is Ash Ketchum) VA named Rica Matsumoto, both Japanese VAs were voicing both main characters in Pokemon anime series for 25 years since 1997. When the whole world watched Pikachu speaks human language in the English dub, they were shocked! *”OMG! Pikachu can speak?! So disturbing!”* Well, that's a shocker. But it was a different English voice actress to do Pikachu speaking, not the same voice like Ikue Otani. I don't know how people in the cinema will react to Pikachu speaking in the *original Japanese dub.* They should see this scene in the original Japanese dub because that's the same voice of Pikachu can speaks human language rather than saying the same lines like “Pika-pika”, “Pika-pi”, or Pi-pikachu”. People can choose which dub is better but they should know that Pikachu’s same voice can speak human language in the original Japanese dub. The real voice of Pikachu!

That Spanish version is from Latin America (the dub was made in Mexico). There's a different dub for Spain.

Finally the one with Japanese dub. It actually feels more emotional in Japanese dub because of how Pikachu said it (the sentence structure). In Japanese dub, Pikachu repeated the first word "itsumo" which means "always" In English dub, Pikachu repeated "it's because" And it made a difference

the video contains an error, when the audio appears in portuguese, the corresponding flag is that of Portugal, however the audio is Brazilian Portuguese, the flag should be that of Brazil. PS: yes Brazil speaks its own Portuguese and not Spanish like most other Latin American countries

The context was Ash and Pikachu were getting brutally beaten up by some corrupted Pokemon, to the point that the only reason Ash isn't bruised and bleeding half the blood in his body is that the movie is rated g. Ash wants Pikachu to go into it's PokeBall to protect him but Pikachu refuses, the exact machanics behind Pikachu talking are not explained byond a simple Ash and Pikachu could perfectly understand each other for a breif moment.
