Hi just come across your channel. Yeah heard the same rumour about the baliff selling the pike out of castle howard. My old man used to pike fish it alot in 90's Is another lake not to far away from it that holds big pike. Wykeham lakes if you planning a trip.

Pike as live bait used to be quite common. As a kid many years ago it was common for older anglers to scrounge any jacks I caught as bait. It's true that other pike comprise a good proportion of a pike's diet, but it's sporting qualities as a method are dubious. Any fish that represents another angler's sport is questionable, including free-roving 3 lb chub live baits and similar.

Your story is a sad reflection on what some people call sportsmanship...I'd imagine that would be illegal... it certainly should be...😕 I love fishing big waters here in Ireland... I can fish for days & blank but thats okay... its all a part of the "process"... Tight lines, mate... 😎👍☘️🍺
