In this session Tom is having a solo pike fishing session on an urban canal that he's never visited before. Pike fishing uk canals can be tough going sometimes, after many blanks Tom is hoping he can catch some pike!

As a fellow angler, I am horrified as to what damage you video has done in one week. I walk under the bridge with my dogs twice a day, since you posted you clip uneducated anglers and people putting out baited night lines intent on eating what they catch have descended to this spot. On one occasion there were 8 people fishing under the bridge. I have seen two dead pike and one with horrific unhooking injuries which may result in the death of another. The towpath is littered bottles, bear cans, disguarded fishing line and lure packaging. I myself have removed 3 night lines comprising of tent pegs approx 50lb line with a large treble hook and a dead bait. Other anglers have also removed similar and have released 2 impaled pike. I have never commented on KZbin before but you need to be informed of what happens after you’ve had your enjoyment and shared it with everyone. One final point if you’re going to post your exploits don’t stand where the name of the location is in plain sight.

Hi Paul, this is terrible! Something that as we get more viewers and more of an audience we are having more and more of an issue with. I wasn't aware that the location or bridge name was in this video and for that I am truly sorry for all the anglers that fish this stretch regularly. Going forward I will police this better and have more of a self awareness of landmarks in the content. As for the people throwing lines in for the night this is a such a terrible thing to do for pike, deep hooking them and in some cases killing them. Paul we try and educate anglers in fish practise and I know that we have inspired many pike anglers into the sport that care for the fish but I suppose we need to do a better job to give people more knowledge how to fish for them correctly. I will pin this comment on this video to try and raise awareness for proper fish care. Always use a mat. Never leave a line in over night. Use proper unhooking tools. No one is stocking pike so if we mis-treat them they simply won't be there. Fish smart guys, Snagged Bro.

@@SnaggedBro Thanks for your reply and I appreciate the fact that you will be more careful in not identifying your fishing locations in the future. I applaud you on your fish handling and educating others on how to look after their captures. Regarding the night lines there has been a problem here for some time now, particularly in the summer months. The most I myself have removed is 15 in a 200m stretch. Fish stocks Pike, Bream and Carp stocks have depreciated considerably over the last few years, ending up on someone’s dinner plate. Hence the need to protect our fishing for genuine anglers. Yep I was the same for about 5/6 trips to the canal each about 4/5 hours at a time. Finally got one on the 3D real eel by savage gear. Can fish it really really slow

How deep is that canal, Tom? Also, how deep do you reckon is perfect for pike, at least in a canal? The canals we fish tend to be about a meter to two. I find some fish, but not many. Should I be looking for deeper water?
