Martin Atkins Coventry, England) is an English drummer and session musician, best known for his work in post-punk and industrial groups including Public Image Ltd, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Pigface, and Killing Joke. Atkins is also an honorary board member of the Chicago-based nonprofit organisation Rock For Kids.

Just saw Martin's performance in Chicago -- funny guy, compelling storyteller, and MAN was it great to hear him whale away on the drums again! As a teenage drummer I was *obsessed* with Under the House (and pretty much got it down, since I had a lightning-fast right foot) -- and now I finally witnessed a live performance of that rhythm!

I was at The Palladium show of PiL in New York City. I re,ember John Lydon pulled people from the audience and set them up like a choir on stage and let them sing. At the end of the show John Lydon sang the last song and went off the stage. The band remained playing but John left the building. It was rumored that John Lydon jumped into a cab and left without telling the band.

I remember an interview with Geordie and he said Raven would go mental ( in a bad way) if he even 'heard' the name Martin Atkins and that there had been a falling out. Would love to know what it was

As maligned as the "Holiday Inn" version may have been, the band rehearsed for a week before performing at the Hollywood Palladium and doing the tour of Japan in '83. Were we real "punks?" No. Could we play? Yes, and very well. That version saved the band's "ass."

Did it hell save the band's arse. As bassist Pete Jones said "PiL were dead as a duck when Keith Levene left" Pete and then Keith leaving just before the 1983 Japanese tour meant the end of that band because they were back touring for the first time since 1980 and were sounding great. Working on their new studio album 'Commercial Zone'. And what did us fans get instead. 'Live in Tokyo' 😢 That album was the biggest disappointment of my life as a teenager. It was so dire. It should never have been released as an album never mind on video too. As far as I'm concerned PIL were finished in 1983.
