Absolutely stunning! Goes to show what a talented modeler can do with off the shelf rolling stock, locomotives and track. The scenery and structures are fantastic! Truly inspirational...

Fantastic layout ! So realistic it’s hard do you believe it’s a model train layout ! The detail is exceptional the grass , the buildings, the boats in the water and the people-amazing! 😁💕

Top notch figurines and scenery. Thanks to Bachmanntrains, narrow gauge O Scale has boomed. I would love to see and hear this layout without the crowd sounds which would probably require permission to visit when no crowd was there.

I agree. The video, the layout, the modeling and everything else about this presentation was excellent. The background noise was completely distracting and very annoying. Very sad for an otherwise "professional" attempt.

Yes, but prototype NG was not always perfectly built or maintained. Narrow gauge was popular because it was cheaper.

I like the working turntable at 2:35, but, unfortunately, the video cut at 3:04 did not show it rotating with the engine and tender. I was thinking it was electrically controlled remotely, but perhaps not. It might be a job for a microstepper motor and a microprocessor to provide smooth acceleration and deceleration, reasonable angular speed, and precise stopping when the tracks are aligned - a tricky problem, indeed. Moreover, how was the power for the locomotive transmitted to the turntable rails?

This would be sensational , except that there are engines with no-one on the footplate ! I know it's nit-picking , but the rest of the layout is exquisite . It's just a detail which lets down the overall impression.

Your engine # 18 apparently is a wood burner from the load of wood in the tender. Why isn't there a spark arrester stack on it? Out standing video though.

Most of those locos seem to sound like how they are sold by Bachmann. There may be at least one that sounds like Wow sound.

A really nice layout, sadly part of its poetry is totally wasted by the background noise... You really should use a directional mike when filming those modules at toys or railway modelling fairs...

Very nice start to an American style model however some critiques; American trains of the era modeled would have a caboose or waycar on the end if the train, boats would have been tied to eachother and then a dock, there would be fishing nets and buoys around all over the waterfront, locomotives would have engineers and firemen in the cabs, poles and phone/electrical lines should be in evidence in this era, handbills and adverts would be anywhere that they could be nailed up, cast off junk and trash should be seen in appropriate areas. Signage advertising the business in a building would be displayed plus smaller window adverts would be normal, groups of drums and barrels should be seen in various places, used tires and other cast off items from automobiles would be normal in areas. These are things, as an American, are noticeably missing from a typical American scene. Collections of junked parts, sea birds, and trash, as well as railway personnel really make a difference in making a believable scene. There are a few of these in evidence but not near enough to be representative of American depression era scenes.

Beautiful layout, and wonderful work. It is just a terrible shame that it isn't done in On3 instead of On30. 30 in gauge was terribly rare in the old American west, whereas 36 in gauge was by far the most common. Ever considering widening to 36" gauge? People go to great lengths to have historical authenticity, but then ignore something as glaring as the correct gauge. Too bad.
