I've bene playing this deck at FNM, loved to see this video! A tip for next time you'll play this deck, if you put a Cave in play with spelunking's trigger, It Will gain you 4 Life. In game one of match 3, right before you concede, you could play spelunking and put echoing depths in play (4 life), maybe they wont kill you with a swing, or maybe yes xD. Also in game 2 of the same match you choose to put gingerbread in play with spelunking instead of hidden necropolis (which Is also a Cave, so 4 lifes for you). It's a fun deck, Pillage the Bog Is a great boost. Hope to see more videos likes this!

Yeah, I did a quick search and didn't see any on this deck? And also yeah completely forgot about that, I've basically only played with spelunking in modern amulet which doesn't have caves, thanks for the reminder, and yeah Pillage is definitely a good boost.

Why does your pillage reveal the top 8 for your library at @4:46, when you have 4 lands?

Pillage just reveals twice the number of lands, really lets it dig deep!

7:45 - 8:45 This interaction can be confusing for aome. What are the rules regarding the interactions between Spelunking and Echoing Deeps? Thank you in advance.

So, if echoing deeps copies something, it's not entering as a cave, so you don't get the spelunking life. Basically, since I already had the Mystic sanctuary I needed to combo with in play, I got a copy of echoing deeps so that I have all the copies of my combo pieces (Necropolis, Cabin, 2x Field, Sanctuary) However, in this case, it actually doesn't matter a ton, since I will still get the sanctuary back after beseeching for a splendid reclamation anyway. If the sanctuary was in my graveyard from an earlier turn and Reclamation wouldn't bring it back, then it becomes critical to loop with an Echoing Deeps and just keep copying whichever combo piece is in the yard.

@@MinT_x33 Thank you for taking the time to reply. Let me ask a more precise question: Can Echoing Deeps copy a Mystic Sanctuary in the yard and BOTH enter untapped AND as a copy to get the effect? I had a judge claim that Echoing Deeps MUST always enter tapped if it is to copy a land in the graveyard. Basically, can Echoing Deeps copy anything in the yard and still enter untapped given there is a Spluenking of n play?

@@josefranciscodasilvaeolive674 Ah yeah, so my understanding is that it can do both, and in the sequence you linked to exactly that happens, I put a Thoughtseize back on top with deeps. Assuming there's no bug happening with MTGO, I think the judge was just wrong. To dive in a bit further, I think that when there's multiple replacement effects, you choose which order to apply them in, so you can choose Deeps to go first, then Spelunking. I'm not a judge though, so it might be worth double checking with one.

@@MinT_x33 Thank you for then reply! I did in fact double check and my conclusion is that this particular judge was incorrect in the ruling made. I have been reviewing the layering system and now feel that I have a solid understanding of the fundamental principles of those rules. Thank you you once again! Having a healthy and civil discussion about MTG can be long missing from the community.
