Im in flight school now and all I can say is make sure that you really want to do this, you will have to study your butt off, and it's a lot of mental work. Airlines come pretty much every month to recruit cadets at my school but please, make sure that you know what you are signing up for.

How much studying are you doing per night or per week? I'm considering flights school but know I am not the most studious of individuals...
@TheShooter95
@TheShooter95 Жыл бұрын
@@stevenfoster9402 Well my school has set up that we do ground school first and then take the written exam first and if you pass the written exam you move to the flight line. I studied on average 4 hours per night for the written exam and then if you pass the written exam you move to the flight line. Then on the flight line, I am studying for about 2 - 4 hours and which includes chair flying and going through the checklist.

Do you think is too late to become a pilot now from zero time? It takes about 2-3 years to become one and like $100k on average so if I start this year I won’t be at a regional until 2025, 2026.
@ocflightlessons

Hi Joseph No, I don’t think it’s too late by any means. Things are just getting started. I published American Airlines pilot retirement forecast on my IG story yesterday. It stated: Mandatory Retirements (Based on pilots turning 65 in the given year) 2020 - 323 2021 - 542 2022 - 624 2023 - 828 2024 - 911 2025 - 941 2026 - 904 2027 - 772 2028 - 688 2029 - 647 2030 - 568 2031 - 584 2032 - 523 2033 - 498 2034 - 435 2035 - 395 2036 - 307 2037 - 256 2038 - 267 2039 - 248 2040 - 255 It is absolutely insane how many pilots are retiring. Keep in mind, this is just 1 airlines numbers. It’s like this at EVERY airline if not worse. Best wishes, Omar

There are plenty of pilots. The prob is due to insurance requirements they need proper hours. Big gap is between 200+h after training and 1000+h as entry point to regional lines. It is very old problem and look like not many interested to fill the gap.

Hi Omar, I'm 26 and have to make a decision for my future, and being a pilot is something I'm interested in. At my current job I'm making 28$ an hour, 12 hour shifts, and I've heard regional pilots work 12 hour shifts routinely but only get paid for 6 hours because its all based on actual flight time. While 90$ an hour does seem enticing, the schedule insecurity is sketchy for me, and if your working 12 hours but only getting paid for 6 are you really getting paid 90$ an hour? Yah feel me? I'm interested to get your take on how airlines pay pilots, thanks man
@TheShooter95
@TheShooter95 Жыл бұрын
Pilots get a guaranteed minimum pay of 70 -75 hours per month. So, if you fly for only 50 hours in one month, you will be paid for whatever the minimum number of hours that the airline has. Also, you can only fly for 100 hours per month or 1000 hours per year. I suggest you do a discovery flight to see if you like it.

Hi Omar! Leo from Guam here and just did my first discovery flight this past weekend. Kinda worried about it because i had TOO MUCH FUN and am seriously considering starting the journey. I have zero hours and am wondering if you think a 30 year old like me could still have a successful career if i decided to change paths. Also do you think automation will actually eliminate the need for pilots anytime soon? Love your videos, hoping to gather a lot of good info so i can make a solid educated decision. Thanks!
@ocflightlessons
@ocflightlessons Жыл бұрын
Hi Leo! Thanks for following my channel. You're definitely not too old by any means. I definitely think automation will take over. The question everyone is asking is when will it happen. People have been guessing as far back as 1990, when my dad was a pilot on the B727 at Emirates in Dubai. I remember he used to tell me, its going to come, but it won't be in our lifetime. If you look at the newest designed airplanes they are making, the A350, B787, these airplanes are certified with human pilots in mind. It is no secret the difficulties and cost associated with aircraft certification which costs billions of dollars. These two new airplanes will be flying for the next 20-30 years with pilots in them. Boeing and Airbus would have to design an aircraft from the ground up without pilots. Before that can happen, laws must be passed allowing for that to happen. Like my father told me 33 years ago, I don't think it will happen during our careers. Best regards, Omar

Aloha! I was in Honolulu last October for my honeymoon! I would recommend getting him started on his Private pilots license while attending high school then enrolling in an accelerated program upon graduation. Once he gets his ratings have him instructor asap to build the 1500 required hours to be hired at an airline. I recommend enrolling him in an online bachelors degree program so he can go fly at a regional upon reaching 1500 hours while attaining his degree. Thank you for your support. It means the world to me. My passion has always been to help anyone I can to achieve their dreams
