This week, Jason is joined by Peter Weber aka Pilot Pete as they dive into all things aviation, his time in the Bachelor franchise, and the numbers behind it all. Bachelor Nation fell in love with Peter on Hannah Brown’s season of the Bachelorette before he went on to become The Bachelor, but Pilot Pete always knew his heart was with aviation and returned to his piloting career after his time on reality tv. Peter gives insight into what is causing all those cancellations and flight delays, his best advice for overcoming travel anxiety, and what goes on behind the scenes. Do private or major airline pilots make more money? How many hours a pilot can work during a month? How did Pilot Pete manage to get all the time off to do both shows? Pilot Pete answers all of that and so much more in another episode, you can’t afford to miss!

Wow what an insane story abt covering his job!!!! Hats off to Pilot Pete for doing what it took to make it happen. My brother retired as 777 Sr Captain for Delta. His 3 sons are all military pilots. Last name is WEBER too! #Pilots4Life

Very informative. Peter was great at explaining how the industry works. I wish those things had been talked about: (1) Attribution rate of flight school. Is it high, and is it true that most students who drop out do so because of a lack of money? (2) Are scholarships available? Can a student of modest means afford flight school, plus the instruction? (3) Do grades in flight school matter for hiring prospects? (4) Do networking and connections matter? I.e., what gets your foot in the door if your goal is to work for a major airline? (5) Do the airlines provide accommodations for pilots who can't sit for extended periods of time? Need to stretch, lower back pain, etc...? (6) What's the interview process like?

My uncle just had to retire this past September from American since he turned 65 even though he didn't want to and wasn't ready to. I think they should reconsider the age they force pilots to retire. It's out of the pilot's control when they retire.

You definitely don't have to pay to use the bathroom on RyanAir though, although I appreciate the way that rumor has spread 😅

Question? If a pilot who is riding as a passenger refuses to help in the event of an emergency where the current pilot can no longer operate the plane, can that passenger pilot face lawsuits in the event that people are injured or killed and he survives?

The term for redundancy in planes is “fail safe” I believe:)

I actually think the ATC CALLED an expert on that particular airplane and the expert instructed him safely down. Cool story, however. Aviation is Safety Safety Safety 100%. Crazy how any million of itty bitty somethings can go sideways FAST from the air to the ground. 😬
