I've got the Water Surface, which is my favorite raden design, but all look great. So happy to hear your voice on seeing pen. Makes me appreciate mine more !

It's an excellent pen. A raden galaxy with broad nib lives in the pen pocket of my suit jackets. It gets filled once a week. Tsuki-yo.

What an awesome gift! You know, normally I watch these with a dash of envy as I just saved up enough for a pilot Prera (which I love anyway), but your joy at receiving this pen jumps off the screen, and I am so happy you got given this. Your excitement is very obvious 😀 I really love that Monteverde purple. I find it really hard to get inks here in NZ without paying out the nose for shipping, but I just bought konpeki off someone and I love it! Totally understand the love for iroshizuku inks now. Thanks so much for sharing, I really enjoyed it
@ThePenPixie7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your sweet comment. I really appreciate it. I've never used a Pilot Prera, but I've only heard great things about it. I'm sure you're going to love it. Now it's my turn to be envious! You're in New Zealand! My husband and I visited about 11 years ago for a couple of weeks and toured the North Island. We told people we were going for a vacation, but we were really going to scout out things. We wanted to (and still often talk about) moving there for good. We fell in love with the people, the landscape, and the sheep. Would you be interested in maybe striking up a pen pal situation? No pressure because I know we're all busy. Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)

Congrats on such a gorgeous pen. I love the VP nib, have two Decimos. Just got a med which I have filled with Diamine Jack Frost…perfect!! I’d never spend so much on one of these high end models, though I’m careful to never put myself where I’d see one in person…… I have no will power and I’m sure i would talk myself into getting it if I was holding one in my hands!

Don't be jealous; but seriously, you should save up to get one. I love this pen! I've been steadily using Tsutsuji but am looking for a new ink since I'm almost out. I will check out Jane Austen (I'm pretty sure the Noodlers is no longer made). Thanks for the suggestions. And thanks for watching and commenting. :-)

you bet! thanks for sharing. the noodlers is still made I bought mine maybe 6 months ago at my local store. but they have it at anderson and goulet. www.gouletpens.com/noodlers-black-swan-australian-roses-3oz-bottled-fountain-pen-ink/p/N19065 www.andersonpens.com/Noodler-s-Black-Swan-Australian-Rose-Ink-3oz-p/19065.htm

You got the Raden! The nearest pen I have in that sort of finish is the Jinhao X750 Shimmering Sands with a Goulet 1.1 nib. £25. I have got the Decimo version of the Vanishing point in Pearlescent white with 2 18k Rhodium plated gold nib units. One medium and one stub. It's a bit girly for me and my wife loves it and uses it whenever she can. I use it with Pilot Iroshizuku murasaki-shikibu plum purplish ink and it writes really well. Maybe I will get a fine nib unit as well after seeing you use it. It's great being able to change nib units easily with different inks in them. I have Diamine Havasu Turquoise ink in the stub nib unit.
@ThePenPixie5 жыл бұрын
I did get a Raden! I also had that Jinhao as a substitute until I finally got the real deal. The Jinhao is nice, but from using a Decimo I'm sure you'll agree that nothing beats that retractable Pilot nib unit. Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)

Gorgeous pen! I felt the same way when I received my red and gold Pilot VP--I still catch myself staring at it to this day. 😍✒️ I agree to avoid shimmer inks since it's a Fine point nib since it won't show the shading off as much and might clog. Some of my favorite inks are: DeAtramentis Lilac (looks exactly like Pentel EnerGel in Purple), Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses (burgundy), Diamine Red Dragon (medium neutral red), and J. Herbin Café des Îles (perfect medium, warm brown). HTH and enjoy your pen--sounds like your husband's a keeper! 😉👍

Ooooh. I need to try the DeAtramentis Lilac! I love the EnerGel purple! It sounds like you love your VP like I do. It's just an incredible pen. I appreciate the suggestions, and I think I'll keep him! Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)

For my samples, I use a syringe to fill my converter and pop it in the nib. No mess or inky fingers. 🙂 I love my VP and truly believe it is one of the best fountain pens.

A couple of comments from me.... First, your husband is a keeper!! First (subdivision (a) Your joy is infectious!! Second, I have a lot of ink samples too, but the bottles of ink that I bought are Lamy Dark Lilack (obviously to go with my Dark Lilac Lamy pen), Noodler's Navy and Noodler's Black Swan in English Roses (which I believe is not available anymore), J. Herbin's Terre De Feu, and the rest are Diamine (Macassar, Brandy Dazzle, Red Dragon and Oxblood). I think my favorites of all of these are the Dark Lilac, Macassar, Red Dragon and Oxblood). I'm pretty sure the Black Swan in English Roses is not available, but if you speak to the kind folks at Goulet, they can probably tell you what's the next best thing is. Third, I have discovered the fine art of inking with a syringe...it's the best thing EVER! Fourth, Happy Birthday! (If your husband feels like buying another pen, my birthday is April 2nd) ;-)
@ThePenPixie7 жыл бұрын
Lol! Thanks! And, I'll let him know. I LOVE using a syringe. It's so clean and easy. Welcome to the club! Thank you for the list of ink. I'm going to add them to my list of samples to buy. I, too, think that Black Swan in English Roses is no longer available. But you gave me a nice list to get started. As always, thanks for watching and commenting. :-)

Your first VP (that you did a video on anyway) was all black with a F nib. This fine point nib writes a much broader line than I thought it would for a Japanese fine point, my Sailor fine point is much thinner. I was thinking of a med point for a VP, but now I am thinking a fine point might be just fine. :)
@ThePenPixie7 жыл бұрын
That very first VP video was a loaner pen. This one is all mine! I really love my F nib for the VP. It's a perfect every day writer. I have an M nib for it but definitely use the F more often. I need to try a nice Sailor pen some day! Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)

This would be my pen too if I could afford this particular version; however, I am settling for the black and gold Vanishing Point. I know it won't be quite the eye-catcher like the Raden Galaxy. That is an incredibly beautiful pen. You are blessed to have such a sweet husband. 😃
@ThePenPixie6 жыл бұрын
He owed me big time!!! :-D If I could offer some unsolicited advice - don't settle. Save the money you would've spent on the gold and black VP, then save the other half for the Raden. You're halfway there if you purchase the black and gold anyway. My husband has the black and gold; it's not even close to the Raden. Save the money for the Raden if you really want it; it will be totally worth it. I haven't felt the need to buy any pens since the Raden. I got my grail pen, and it met all my expectations. Before I got the Raden, I spent a LOT of money buying other less expensive pens, but I still always wanted the Raden. I should've saved all my money and only bought the pen I wanted. Heck, I could've bought at least two or three with the money I spent buying other stuff because I didn't want to drop the cash on the Raden. The Raden was one of the first fountain pens I remember seeing online, and I fell in love. It started my fountain pen kick. If I went back to the very beginning of my fountain pen journey, I would've started with the Raden and likely not bought much else. But I didn't know then what I know now. Just some thoughts. Whenever I reach for a pen, it's the Raden. In fact, I use it pretty much as my daily writer and don't reach for much more. I wish you good luck and hope you let me know what you end up purchasing. Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)

@@ThePenPixie Only snag is right now it is sold out on the Goulet Pens website. So I hope it doesn't go on sale before I've saved enough; it might sell out again faster than San Diego Comic Con tickets.

Please don't take this the wrong, I think you need better lighting for your videos, I have some of the same inks you showed and their color isn't coming through on the video half as vibrant as they are. For indoor VLOGGING lighting is more important than the camera and lens. With good lighting you could be using you cell and get better video than this. Or you could just do the videos in the daytime with good natural light from the windows. If you can't see the color of the inks or how the pens write then why bother. I like your videos content and style, if you could up the video quality with little upgrades to your equipment I think you could build a much bigger following.
@ThePenPixie7 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate the feedback. I agree with you; lighting has always been an issue for me. I've moved into a new house where it's possible for me to film in different locations. I will try that. I would have to look into the cost of lighting equipment; I have no idea what that would even cost! But again, I appreciate you taking the time to give me suggestions for improvement. Thanks for watching and commenting. :-)
