Thank you. Luckily, we are catching these things as we have a proactive dealer in Signature Motorhomes. You are quite correct, water issues need to be dealt with immediately, especially in the cold weather where it can expand more. However, it did get us around Wales, England, France and Spain this year!

Thanks again for sharing. I have to say your van looked exactly what we want, especially when we had seen your early review of the van. However these problems have put me right off Pilote. I hope we will have better luck with a German van but, as you say, the Pilotes look so nice inside.

I think it is possible to have issues with any motorhome, new or old, no matter what the make. Some are just more likely to fail than others. Thank you for your comment

I was just about to go down the Pilote route, you have really put me off, I've been studying and looking at all manor of motorhomes recently, I get the impression that come the high demand after covid, the market went ballistic, prices shot up and built quality suffered massively as they churned them out, you can see the difference when comparing a 2015 burstner with a 2020 (can't afford brand new)burstner, it's like they no longer give a shit. Jeez Louise, what to do!!

I think you may be correct. I have heard the same story across lots of brands, not just Pilote. I cannot say Pilote are any worse or better than other brands, this was just our experience of course at that moment in time of purchase/build. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

We have a p716, 2018 purchased new. We have just had a complete new floor luckily just within warranty. The control panel broke and we now need a further repair as the electrics won’t work properly. The leisure battery didn’t work well and needed an early replacing and the bedroom doors had to be replaced due to warping. The ducted heating is hit and miss. We too have a flickering bedroom light so don’t turn it on 😬. Waiting for parts from pilote is a very lengthy process and expensive. Having said all this we still love our van and have travelled extensively in it, we feel the materials used in the build are a good quality and would have to go up in price a lot to replace it with something better. Thank you for your honest review it was interesting to see how many similar problems there were.

Thanks for commenting and I think you are right, we like ours too, the layout and the fixtures, just questionable about how they are fitted. As I said in the video it is a real shame as they could be very good. Happy travels and keep in touch!

We've just had the third step box fitted due to the habitation door leaking over several years plus the door removed completely to be resealed. The dealer assures us it has now passed the water test. Same problems with tambour door (not fun being stuck in the shower) and the bedroom light flicker. As others have mentioned they're a good design and we certainly can't afford to upgrade with current prices.

As you say it’s the same with any make of motor home or caravan they all lack decent build quality and things easily fall off! I think it would be a good idea if manufacturers offered their range in kit form then you could assemble everything yourself and make a much better job of it

I suppose in a way they have. There's been a few more things to sort since that video was made. The dealership have been excellent in sorting problens and replacing parts.

We had a Pilote 740 g our dream van or so we thought but after 3 years of problems to many to mention the main problem was water ingress both garage doors the hab door on collection none of the heating duct pipes were connected in the bedroom as these pipes were under the double floor it was not a easy fix .On the Fiat side the drive shaft completely fell apart on the motorway ( scary and dangerous) after the van only covering 19 k miles .

And the list goes on. It is a real shame as they styling of the interiors is good.

You don’t state in your vehicle how these issues were dealt with from an after sales standpoint. For me issues are frustrating but like you say “nature of the beast”. However it’s how easily the manufacturer and dealer resolves them that would sway me one way or another.

Thank you for your feedback. I have now edited this into the description which should now show that with the unfaltering assistance of the dealer and Pilote, all the items were rectified under warranty.. A great service.
