Hey Leon, the shades are to hide my eyes looking down reading a script... we are trying to up the number of videos we put out a month... and me not having to memorize scripts really saves a lot of time. Hopefully people get used to it or can at least bare it. Our goal is to get as much educational content out on KZbin as quickly as possible for the public. Just trying it out... if it works, it works... otherwise we will think of something else.

Question: the only thing i didnt understand is how reduced downwash will result in higher lift.. shouldn't downwash increase lift? especially on the ground.. Would really appriciate a response :)

I think it is because w/ ground affect, there is less span wise flow and smaller wingtip vortices, which "pulls" lift vector back at an angle toward trailing edge of wing. Because of this dragging of the lift vector towards the back, the vertical component of the lift vector is reduced, increasing induce drag component. He has another video explaining induced drag which explains this better than I can with words.
