What a complicated, non-standard, “home made” checklist. Embraer’s own lists work VERY well. Seven airborne items. Which whizz kid thinks they know more than the manufacturer? And of course the PTH disappears if you override the A/T but the question then becomes, why use Path? It’s rubbish.

From a former airline pilot ....one of my favorite approaches was LGA from the West, over Brooklyn and Queens, with visual cues such as the BQE, a water tank near Shea Stadium/Citi Field, and more printed on the STAR

@@RatedPG20 thanks for the reminder......even better than piloting an approach........jump seating on a clear day, and getting an extra 15 minutes of great NYC views .....when a new FO comes in too high on a visual, and needs to go missed :)

The expressway visual isn’t run anymore. As of a year or so ago they came up with a new procedure called the “park visual 31,” flown as RNAV X 31. It’s a procedure approach aimed to reduce flying over Arthur Ashe stadium due to noise complaints.
@MarcPagan Жыл бұрын
@@berzerker4998 Cool...thanks for the update! Yep, I've been to the U.S Open/Arthur Ashe Stadium many times...but as a pilot....I rather liked the "noise" :)

Thanks for the great video, cheers. As a non pilot it's always fascinating watching what goes on in the cockpit and it's fantastic to get the chance to see the birds eye view of the landing from the 'windscreen'. These videos never lose their watchability. Subscribed.

If you really want to do it, start as soon as you can - you don't want to be 60 years old thinking, "man, I wish it wasn't too late to become a pilot". I've seen people in their 40's decide to start flight school to become airline pilots.

Yep its perfect CRM, any doubts ask! Its LGA the frequency is clearly crazy BUSY so much movement so many call signs and clearances, taxi instructions so by confirming the landing clearance with the FO, thats precisely what you do if unsure great job, Jeff is a amazing pilot and Air Canada is one of the best airlines with the best pilots! :) lolll!! Clear skies and tail winds and wash your hands lol
Hey 3rd worlder, you are totally right about this guys. Canadians totally suck at everything. Their whole country is garbage. This is like the worst airline in the world. Its really shameful for us to have these wimps as our neighbours. That they actually feel like they compare to us in any way is such a joke to us.

That's pretty normal for the busy airports. There's so much going on that you can easily miss it or simply forget. If you have any doubt just ask and if I'm PM and not 100% sure, it takes 2 seconds to find out.

@jacobshaw8082 жыл бұрын
That’s a pretty normal question. Sometimes when airports are busy they’ll delay the landing clearance till the last moment. They had been cleared for the approach long ago, so even without a landing clearance, they were doing no wrong

All very entertaining. I'm impressed with the automation; but it still strikes me one way. How do you keep your skills sharp if you are not hand flying except on short final & on takeoff only before the wheels are up? When I was actively flying IFR you needed 6hours & 6 approaches every 6 month as a minimum. I didn't consider any of that to be with the autopilot engaged. (My rule)or FD ERAU '80 CFIA&I 🌞

I couldn't help but notice the unusual pitch attitude at FL290 prior to decent @ .591 mach? Isn't that rather slow or were they slowing for a steep decent? I never slow that much prior to my decent. 737 NG. UFO @ 3:26. Even the camera person spotted it.

I Thought Air Canada only have Bombardier regional planes. Brasilian airlines only have Embraer jets for regional routes. Is important to notice how these new planes can break ! Impressive !
@calvinnickel99954 жыл бұрын
At the time Bombardier had no competing aircraft. The CRJ is too small and dreadful for high capacity routes like this while the C-Series was years away.

One of the things I love about Canada is how they use different terms versus the US whenever feasible. I chuckled when he called for the after landing procedure versus the after landing checklist
@calvinnickel99954 жыл бұрын
It’s not a Canadian thing, it’s probably an Air Canada thing. They do things a little different than everyone else. So does WestJet. In my plane it’s just checks (checks is done silently and alone by the pilot monitoring vs a checklist which is a challenge response procedure) so I just say after landings or after landing checks.
