As a DTW based pilot & former Airbus driver... This video made my day. 1: I appreciated the fact that even after ATC messed it up, you correctly called it "Joe Lou" because it's for Joe Louis like the arena in Detroit. 2: You also caught the "Never Forget" on the freedom arrival. There are a lot of clever ones on that... Even the "Let's Roll" in honor of Todd Beamer, the passenger on United 93 that lead the uprising against the terrorists on that flight. And 3: the classic over speed of flaps 1 on 320/321s... The Airbus has the tightest flap airspeed restrictions of any commercial aircraft I've ever flown. And our company actually further limits this to 10knots below the speed tape restrictions. It was a constant pain in the ass. The plane doesn't like flying that slow. ATC commonly asks for 210 speed from arrivals and we always called 205 an "Airbus 210" so we could get that first notch of flaps out and fly with more margins for slowing down and going down which the Airbus doesn't like doing.

Having flown in and out of Reagan numerous times and also spending many afternoons throughout my life at the aviation park this is the first time feel the accuracy of these flight simulations. It's truly amazing where they are on the technology of these flight simulations. Though what I will say is missing and pardon me I do not know what these things are called, are the light beacons from the ground that sort of signal you in I suppose. They are like little mini tower looking things, none the less, as I said, I'm truly impressed with the approach here.

When we finally landed, someone scrammed to the bathroom, while the plane was still moving. Then a fire alarm went off. The dude had lit up a cigarette. 😆 The pilot and flight crew were very chill about it, figured it was a stressful landing and didn't have the guy punished for it.
