Great review. This headset has exposed the dishonesty of many reviewers with affiliate links. Half of these people don't even mention the distortion sweetspot or warping. It's literally the first thing you notice when you first look through the headset.

Hello and thank you for this video yes i had the same problem with warping in center of lenses, i have never had prescription lenses in VR and im a experience user of VR for 10 years..but i feel the lenses are prescription glass lenses i done an experiment, i put my reading glasses on and it text and all seemed better..im going to get a replacement..i did mod it with Vive Pro 16mm face cushion, already had the apache strap and i had a Bobo m.2 back pad

I think the glass lenses are essential, glass has much higher refractive index so it has considerably less chromatic aberrations and that also affects the overall clarity as when all colors are focused at the same spot you have of course also sharper overall image. Its a bit like comparing quality resin eyeglasses with quality glass eyeglasses, glass is always better. I think they just went for the absolute best possible image quality they could. And i kinda hope they will have interchangeable lenses on the 12k also, as having glass aspherics on that thing with smaller FOV would yield insane results. They could get 13.5MP per eye, with 4:3 crop of the full panel. 4050x3240pixels. That would be a nice option along with the large fov hybrid plastic lenses. That would give close to 50PPD with the same FOV as Crystal.

HI WHat did you use for index style straps. I see you modified the charging bit. DO you have a link ?

Its just way too big for no good reason other than Pimax wanting to save money and not design a fresh headset and instead using the 12kx frame. The only justification for this form factor would be a human eye FOV.

Yeah, I agree on that point. I don't know how much difference the size of the housing really makes in terms of weight distribution or inerthia, I would wager not much but it does affect the marketing of the headset as it just looks ridiculous.

Great Video! Have you looked at the Apache comfort strap? That might fix your comfort issue, ive heard good things about them, get mine Tuesday :)

Yeah I was using it with the crystal actually, I just took it off for this video as it made the headset a bit too hard to see haha.

What about 3d depth presence ? The stereoscopy overlap is goot in this headset?

It's average, no complaints but not amazing like the Pico 4. Better than the quest pro though but only slightly.

It is worth the money? How much sharper than the G2 in the center? So much compare the G2 center sharpness? And the controller maping is working very well because i read the walking dead saint and sinners won't work for this controller becaue of the the menu or something isn't working with any kind of button or something so there is a compatibility issue a lot of games or not?

That back headstrap "cup" from Q2 looks like something that might help my Crystal fit better (still fiddling for the right fit). Do you have a link to just that part, or did you pull it off a stock Q2? Thanks!

It's a quest 2 accessory, the title for it on amazon is: "KIWI design Headset Strap Pad Compatible with Quest 2, Replacement for Elite Strap, Black (Only the Back Pad!)"

Is there limitation for this headset? It means you can play luke ross VR modded games like Cyberpunk VR , Elden Ring VR ? I have a G2 and i use these games in 3480x3480 resolution ( almost maxed resolution in the cames ) and it is nice but not extra sharp... But there is now much resolution option so i think crystal won't be so much sharper because of the games resolutioin limitation .. What do you think?

It would be massively sharper, even at the same render resolution.

@@HeadsetHistorian Wireless VR with the best wifi 6 E won't be create good picture quality than the Crystal with wired? It is impossible right? What do you think? (Q3 with Wifi 6E of course i know the resolution is much lower and the goodlike mode just the Godlike: 3120x3120 vs crystal maximum resolution is 4312 x 5104 as far as i know

Oh sorry, do you mean the face cushion? That's just a generic 8K X pu leather cushion, you can get them on ebay, amazon, aliexpress etc.
