Pin Trading At Disney Springs & Port Orleans Resorts! | Secrets, Tips & Tricks!

In today's vlog we head to Disney Springs to do some pin trading! We realized it was far too busy to do any real pin trading but we took a look at some of the new things! We saw the Bugatti display at the Lego store and we buy Bandit a doggie spirit jersey, which he hated lol. We look at some of the new cute merch at the Co-Op before heading to the boat dock to take a boat to Port Orleans Riverside! We were able to do so much more pin trading at the retail stores and in the main lobby. We met so many awesome cast members who made our day so much more fun!! A huge thank you to them! We also got a mini hidden secrets tour, where we saw the one and only hidden Tigger, Owl, Hei Hei (?questionable but still fun) and the owl from Sleeping Beauty as well! It was so cool! I don't know about that. I don't like that someone who paid a penny for a fake pin is going to trade it for a $10 authentic pin. Fake pins have sucked the fun out of pin trading. Nearly 100% of pins you see on cast lanyards or boards are fake. I would never trade a real pin for a fake one. It's like throwing money down the drain.

Everytime Jenn opens up about anxiety it always brings me so much comfort. I have real bad crowd anxiety and sometimes I just have to cover my peripherals and look down. Otherwise I get that crying feeling and get uncomfortable too. Thanks for being human and relatable 💕

Same! I’m glad someone commented about it. It’s the big reasons why I don’t do well in restaurants and amusement parks sometimes. I do understand when Jenn said she feels like she wants to cry... that feeling is really bad for me. But Tim is an amazing husband and I know he helps her with that!

I definitely have crowd anxiety as well so I know exactly what she means when she talks about it. I don't tend to feel like crying though. I get what amounts to "road rage" only it happens while walking. I certainly don't shove into anyone but I get the urge to burst through the crowd as quickly as possible until I get to a place with more breathing room. My husband lost me a few times before he realized what I was doing. Now he knows to watch for me to take off! LOL!

I’m in love with Loki the dog! His little vest said “handler has a glitch” with Stitch on it and I just thought that was one of the best things ever. And good on Disney for hiring someone with a disorder that requires a service dog! I know it’s a legal requirement to allow the animal, but I’ve heard that a lot of companies think it’s a lot of trouble to deal with and won’t hire someone if they need a service animal. Loki even got his own name tag and I just love it. ❤️❤️❤️

You are becoming pin experts! All of the soft enamel pins you see on the boards (dipped in, wet-looking paint) are counterfeit. So when trading, definitely avoid the pins that have the ‘sunken’ in look. The Cast Member with the tip about the nubs was spot on! The all silver no-enamel pins are called ‘chasers’. They’re exactly like all other Hidden Mickey pins, except they’re a bit lame since they have no enamel.

Jen you're not alone! My daughter suffers from anxiety as well. She has been going through this since 2013. When we took her to Disney World, it was so hard for her because it was so crowded. I give her a hug and tell her to close her eyes and focus on my heart beat. It has been a challenge for my wife and I but we work as a Team.

And the pins that are fake are raised, the real ones are flat. The fake ones tend to be off colored, so the Nemo one that Tim had on his lanyard is fake because the top part of the bag is yellow, not white like the official pin.

Jen, YES! I totally get it! For me it doesn't even have to be large crowds. If a room is too loud I will get the urge to cry sometimes. I do know mine is rooted in my ADD and if I'm having a bad day processing that day, then loud rooms or big crowds quickly become overwhelming.

That's why I was so horrible at pin trading when I tried it, though; I got so attached and I couldn't give up any of my pins! I'm much better at just pin buying, haha. Well I do know that Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground has some dog friendly cabins. Though they require you to put your dog in a dog cage before you leave for one of the parks. They even have what looked like a fenced in play area for dogs.

Oh my goodness! My son just went nuts when you pin traded with a dog! He also loves haunted mansion so he was sad when Tim traded those, but he was okay when I told him Tim was sharing so other people could have them too. Hi Tim and Jenn! I’m a merchandise cast member, and I would suggest going to the “secret” pin trading events in the parks! For example, go to the Frontierland trading post at “high noon” for some fun trading! Also we don’t mind pin trading when the store is busy, as long as you’re patient and wait in line to trade. And attractions/food and bev cast don’t have pins for safety reasons. Love your videos and love that you’re learning how to trade pins!

I have crowd anxiety too, Jenn! I actually have full-on general anxiety disorder, but crowd anxiety just comes along with that I guess, haha. I live in Kansas City, MO, and my family went to the huge Royals parade/celebration/thing back in 2015 where over 1 MILLION PEOPLE showed up. Before anything even started, I couldn't handle it and started crying. My dad took me and one of my younger sisters who has similar issues away from everything to chill out instead. You're definitely not alone in this. I really appreciate you being open about it too. :) I try to be as open and transparent about my issues as possible. I think that if everyone was open about it, there would be less stigma against anxious/depressed/etc. people.

Typically food service locations don’t have those, because yes, they are busy most of the time. The best spots I would say to pin trade is at resort stores or any managers/important looking people standing around at the parks. You can always tell they are managers because they are dressed nice. I feel like they always have really good pins, maybe because they are a little intimidating for people to go up to, but they are always nice and friendly!

The pin that Tim thought was the real one was the fake pin. Authentic Disney pins will not have a dip in the enamel like that, everything should be flush with the rest of the pin. In reality, most of the pins that you find on cast lanyards/boards are fake due to the sheer amount of people who buy the super cheap pin lots off of eBay so they can trade at the parks. It's a shame, really. Because who wants to pay the money for authentic pins when you're going to get a cheap fake in return? Pin trading with the cast members is really fun, but unfortunately most of the time you're not ending up with a fair trade, unless you don't care about receiving inauthentic pins!

Most of the pin boards are scrapper/fake pins. Thank you Tim for adding value to the pin boards. It's tough buying pins for full price and trading for a fake one. I don't get as upset as some people do. I just like interacting with the cast members. I made my 7 year old learn to trade on our last trip to Disney World. It made her not be shy of the cast members and she loved it! Thanks for sharing your pin trading adventures! :)
