I don't tend to broadcast my limited background in karate except in practical application through my arnis training.
Yesterday I did video of myself going through the first 4 of the Pinan kata I was taught in Wado Ryu Karate.
It has been around 28 years since studying Karate as a young kid in a formal setting at a dedicated Dojo. However, I have kept training my kata because it helps my limited range of movement through serious injuries over the years.
I understand fully that my form is not 100% perfect according to traditionalists and I am bound to have a lot of mistakes in my kata, however this is my own interpretation of these forms as taught to me many many years ago.
These forms help keep me moving and enable me to train arnis even with my limited range of movement these days and hopefully will enable me to keep moving as I move toward my 50's and onward just like my first Sensei who is an inspiration to me who still practices and promotes karate and kata as a way of life to help keep himself young.
*NOTE
I have since noticed after recording this video that I had missed a whole forward section in Pinan Yondan. I have now addressed this error and am now practicing the kata with all the elements as it should be done. Thank the gods for the internet and youtube to correct the error of my ways.
