To me, tampo is a sign of immaturity. Ive heard stories of wives who went weeks without talking to their husbands because of tampo. That’s unacceptable in my humble opinion.

I like it when you are walking the streets in Naga City, it gives me a chance to see what’s there. My wife is from Naga City, every time I’ve been there she keeps me in the hotel and gives me San Miguel and picks me up to go get something to eat or a family get together. Chris, you are giving me what I need to be able to see the city when I return.

chris owen hilarious. Early on my fiancé did the same with warnings of danger and goblins. Did not take long to figure out that she wanted to keep me blind to all the lovely dancer bodies strolling around town.

Hi Chris and Mel! My wife and I have been together almost 7 years and married almost 5. She is from Norzagaray, Bulacan but lives here in the states now since 2014. Most of my wife's tampo came from being homesick. Her english is very good and we can talk about most things. I am like you Chris, I like to find out what is wrong and try to resolve the situation and compromise. My wife has learned that I will not let her have tampo anymore. There is always time for yourself when you need it but not because you're upset with me. So we talk about it now and she knows I won't leave her alone until we do. It has resolved her tampo issues. We are moving back to the Philippines at the end of this year because we are tired of working for other people. It is time for us to relax and enjoy our life together.

Tampo is scary. I think the only solution is to address this early on and get it corrected. I could never live with that behaviour.
@timg54635 жыл бұрын
I refuse to deal with tampo. It is ridiculous behavior and I cured it in my fiance, sort of. The first time she had a serious bout of tampo, about who knows what silly thing, I tried to get her to discuss what the problem was. She refused and I sent her packing and told her that she could return when she decided to act like an adult. Two days later she returned all smiles and was happy to discuss her problem. Some silly thing she misunderstood. It has been an educational process for her to accept how discussion and problem-solving works better but, she has done it. If I see a hint of tampo creeping up I tell her quickly to talk or is she ready for a vacation with her family. She straightens right up. Do not accept it is my advice.

The men who go to the Philippines and get ripped off by Filipina are the naive of the world. Those men will also suffer at the hands of greedy women in the west. Through my wife, her family and neighbours I know many Filipina and they do not fit the picture you paint Chris. Tampo is no different to the PMT that women in the west exhibit. A marriage anywhere in the world requires, understanding, caring, tolerance, and mutual support. If you do your research I think you will find that those who fail in relationships in the Philippines have also previously failed in relationships in the west, or alternatively have been unable to establish a relationship in the west. You reap what you sow in most cases. I do not have a prenup, Melodie and I have been together 11 years and married almost 7. I own my home and have significant savings, we have no debt. I have a lot to lose but I know my wife values the love, care, support and nuturing that I give her in our marriage more than materialistic things. If this was not the case I would have already lost everything by now and if I withdraw the love, care, support and nuturing I provide then I deserve to lose half of everything I own.

You are good to go brother. Follow some good rules and you will be fine. 1. Must have college degree. 2. Must be employed. 3. No children. 4. Never married. 5. Siblings employed. 6. Parents ok financially or deceased. Those are good places to start. Then keep eyes and ears open. And whatever you do, never ever a bar girl.

Tampo just sounds like an excuse to engage in childishness, which is fine if you are a five year old, but I don't personally think I could be bothered with that in an adult relationship.
@TheEnimabandit5 жыл бұрын
Tampo is not cultural it is just plain childish that would not be tolerated anywhere else, in the Philippines people are allowed to do it and get away with it, were as in the west they would let alone pretty soon. You can get subservient I have seen a number of them but its usually when the girl is poor and the guy is well off and providing you don't buy any houses then they don't do it. So to say except it I'm not sure one really should.
@TheEnimabandit5 жыл бұрын
@Michael Hope The being quiet is not Tampo Michael it is the total withdrawal of warm, the closest we have in the west is sulking but this is so much more. Many many Filipino's loose their expat partners as we basically just wont put up with it, it is really part of the issue most of us see when we come here that most locals are much younger emotionally than westerners and they have been allowed to get away with it as they grow up. They do it as kids as they learn form the mothers and sisters plus it gives them this Male Lambing thing which is all about saying sorry for everything and anything that may have upset them. Bottom line is it drives westerners nuts and for any Filipinos looking for an expat partner understand that most expats get fed up with it very very fast and will just walk away. One thing to remember is many of the expats who look for a Filipino partner like the Asian look which can be found in a number of other countries around here i.e. Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia all very similar looks, and none of these potential partners don't do Tampo so to be brutal there is other options to putting up with it for a loving Asian Women. I have lived in the Philippines for 14 years so have seen the Tampo issue kill so many relationships and usually lease the Filipino wondering what went wrong!
@keep-going5 жыл бұрын
The tampo thing is more a transition period. It was like that when my wife first came to UK. Like the saying - you can take the filapina out the Philippines but can't take the Philippines out the girl. It does get better for most couples and me and lilibeth have been together for 17 years.

So far, so good, my girl said all arguments must be finished by bedtime. If she's as good as her word, I have it made. Even if she slips up a little and stays mad for two days, it's all peachy.

Tampa doesn’t work on white men.....I told my wife when we first started dating that (tampo) could never work with me......if she wants to be with a Filipino man then tampo would be tolerated. But she didn’t want a Filipino man, she wanted a white man. So she stopped. My wife wasn’t like most Filipinos anyway so it was easy for her to stop. Remember too Filipino men are known to have mistresses so you could see why they would sulk. You could also see why they would rather have a white man.

Got some tip for you about dealing with "tampo" 1.) Find some reason make her feel bad for you, someway where she'll feel like she's offender and your the victim. It will work wonders for you if you execute it correctly. 2.) If #1 is not possible just bribe her, try to be sweet, just swallow your pride Filipina are mostly softhearted a good pet talk and cuddles always will melt their heart.

I think is the spanish blood . I don't mind it to much, in many ways i think is good. I am a man with temper and tend to say to much.. With her not talk Thing things don't escalate to much. She tends to clean or take walks. I know se will talk to me agin marriage can't really work without it. This is the main difference with argument with a western woman , you never know if she will leave. With a filipina you know that if you haven't done something really bad or put shame on her. She will stay and you can relax more in a fight with that knowledge . You really need to learn basic Tagolog living in this country, immersion is the key ;)
