Hey man, this really hit me. My lady passed in 2021. We were a team that worked like that. She was fearless. We did construction and auto mechanics, not trucking but intense just the same. She taught me how to cook. I miss her. Doubt I'll ever find anyone close to Leigh. Much love to you two👊🏻

The one thing I learned as a new driver is to take my time, no matter how much inconvenience I may be causing. It is always better to be safe and 100% sure than to be rushing and guessing. Learn to always plan ahead. The guy riding and talking to her is doing a great job of helping her through her workday!

A little know tip lost since the invention of power steering: BEFORE stopping while reversing, start cranking the wheel just as fast / hard as you can in the opposite direction ( the way you want the truck to go when you start in the other direction ). Then start rolling forward and you're halfway there, going in the direction you want. No trying to turn the wheel while stopped, or starting to go forward and Then start turning. In other words, plan ahead . . .
@bush600r2 Жыл бұрын
Roger that. I hate seeing people dry steering a vehicle. Hard on the steering components as well as the ashphelt underneath. Your right seems to have been a lost technique, You see dry steering too often now days
@telcobilly Жыл бұрын
Dry steering never heard that term, totally makes sense.
@janpur1417 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I too let the vehicle to roll when turning the wheel. Now with automatic trans, people step on the brake while turning and cause excessive strain on steering gear! All my vehicles are still on OEM steering racks and pumps as a result!
@doolioart3314 Жыл бұрын
Here that's still taught in driving school.
@danielestrada1850 Жыл бұрын
Exactly, that's the way we all did it back in the day both on trucks and cars without power steering, turning the wheel while the vehicle is still in motion, however slow to "soften" the steering wheel and to also minimize wear on the tires by lessening their friction against the pavement.

11:52 That light is blinking yellow! 11:56 Solid yellow, and more than two car lengths from intersection. 11:57 Red. Still a car length from intersection. 11:58 Red +1 second. Front grill is probably lined up with intersection (curb running 90 degrees). 11:59 Red + 1 second and more. Crossing into intersection. With the other yellow lights that were ignored earlier, you are setting yourself up for some expensive tickets, and insurability issues, if you keep this habit up. One day, a cop will be watching, or the light will be RED longer before you get to the intersection, and there will be no excuse. Not to mention an accident, if a car comes across while speeding, and their light is green.

Bad driver, should have stopped on the yellow.

One reason among others that I gave it up because blowing through a light or trying to stop under load and the law of probality would eventually have caught up with me for a ticket or worse my major fear was killing folks. Being dog tired was my enemy as well.

I am amazed to see you’ve got a cat and a dog in the cab. Regarding those streets, the issue is more with the big American tractors, not really meat for tight orders, isn’t it. It’s all a lot even tighter here in the UK, that block you circled on the way out of that yard would be a wide one around here. Well done mama! You made it look easy. Subscribed to your channel.
