After TWO WEEKS of downtime, we FINALLY receive the magic ABS Module from the EBay seller.
Let's plug it in and see if the Ram Hemi is Happy with this replacement part...
Also I bench test and install a new OEM ESIM EVAP valve to get rid of the DORMAN GARBAGE and cure the P0456-EVAP Very Small Leak code.
Is the Ram 1500 ready to be returned to the customer??

The VIN re-write went better than I expected. Sometimes when manufacturers make running changes within the model year it can be confusing what you have and what you need to repair it. In 500,000 miles the 'ol Marquis has never given me any issues with the anti-lock brakes, so the next time I turn the key it will fail. Your shirt didn't come off on this one; I want to see the conclusion. GREAT VIDEO!

Sometimes it can be a pain trying to bleed a brake system that's been all apart. I did a master cylinder on a GMC Sierra recently that was a nightmare to get bled right. I used a pressure bleeder probably did 5 or 6 complete bleeds plus the ABS Pump bleed procedure several times also. I did finally get it bled though, never had that much trouble bleeding a brake system before. Not sure why that truck was such a pain.

No wonder I like watching Ivan. A customer dropped by 2 weeks ago. He told me about a local shop could not repair his car ABS system. I got it under my shade tree. Plugged my scanner in. A few ABS codes popped up. He had told me that the shop had tried. I took a look at the module. The harness was not completely seated. Cleaned up the connector and reseated it. This time less codes. Still not happy. After spending a few hours of back and forth. Bad module. Found one nearby. Since I'm working I don't have the luxury of spending time all day. I work on a vehicle. Then I have to call the customer and get the customer to get the part. I installed the used module and it's working. Now the final scan. Not happy. Steering wheel sensor is bad now. He gets the part ordered. Wrong part. He had reordered the sensor. Waiting now.

From 2004, cars suck . Dumb electronics. Many parts made to fail. It has become a scam. Glad I'm out of it, mostly ! Window cleaning, car cleaning, painting, grass cutting. Much easier, less outlay, happier customers. Car owners expect miracles, for pennies. I put up an expenses board including tools and equipment costs. Something to point at when they tried to get discount. No car left without payment in full. When asked for credit, I asked if they could get our supplier's to wait longer and the supermarkets to let me have food and wait until I get paid b4 paying, then they could have credit. They paid. Special orders paid for upfront. Work sheets signed off and work approval forms signed. A friend of mine gave people the benefit of credit and they obviously let him down. It's a difficult trade. All trades are. They require skill, knowledge and experience. And expensive tools. Getting payed is an ordeal sometimes

I'm working on a 2015 chevy express with similar issue, KINDA. A car lot I diagnose for bought a 2015 chevy express from auction. The van was ONLY missing the abs motor not the model or hydraulic model/unit. The car lots mechanic took a motor from a parts van they had and installed just the motor. If anyone's familiar with that abs unit they know the motor has a lobe on the shaft, you can't just slide the motor in. The mechanic forced it in broke some stuff and nothing worked. I told the car lot to buy a unit. They bought a used unit and their mechanic installed the unit. After bleeding the system numerous times plus using the scanner he couldn't get a pedal. Then I get a second call to come down After doing the self bleed with the scan tool 4 times the pedal was back, abs motor worked as it should. The next day I get a call the abs lights on and they can't communicate with the abs. I go down there because I was in the area that same day and the abs was dead. I'm not sure what happened but I'm going down there Monday to find out. I only had a scanner with me so I couldnt really do the test I wanted to.

There is likely a procedure to reset the "permanent" codes. It usually involves driving a specific drive cycle and as long as the malfunction is no longer present, you would be able to reset the code, again, following a specific procedure and order of operations.

One way to pass emissions with a small evap leak is to disconnect the battery since that will reset the test cycle which takes like 48h (on a RAM 2014) to complete, so during that time the code won´t set and you can get it inspected and then continue to find the problem while driving the car. Great video, learned a lot.

So ovbiously it needed an ABS module,HCU and connector repair kit. This was in early April 2024 The HCU and connector kit were a day away, the ABS module JUST came in last week July 2024 it took 3 MONTHS to get this module from Mopar. What a JOKE. I have 3 1996 Chevy 1500 trucks. One of them had a problem with the ABS, I replaced the Kelsey Hayes unit with a rebuilt unit (same part number) and it didn’t fix it. I looked at my 86 truck and master cylinder and booster looked identical so I got brake lines for an 86 and replanned the lines, pulled the ABS fuse and the brakes are much better than any of the 96s and now you can bleed the brakes at the wheels without all the BS

We went through this 6 months ago on a 2010 Ford Escape. Brake pedal almost to floor, then pumped up by depressing pedal, it would go back down. Replaced master cylinder still no good. Then did abs bleed but still no good. Bled all brakes manually, did the abs bleed again on scan tool, still no good. Did abs bleed again 2 more times then suddenly all worked well and has ever since. This all began with sudden hard braking causing abs to initiate, then pedal went to near the floor. I don't know if these are just to complicated with too many hydraulic circuits or what, but the stated procedure for repair did not work several times, then, out of the blue, it was good again. Still don't know if it was the master cylinder or the abs module and have no way to determine which or either were bad/defective. Newer cars are nasty to work on. Inititially took it in to a shop who stated it needed new rear brakes. However, visual inspection by us indicated that was a bad diagnosis. This caused us to dig in to this situation ourselves and glad we did. Shop wanted $475 for rear brakes (outrageously expensive). We repaired it for under $100 and never touched the rear brakes other than bleeding them and fronts as well during the above procedure. Since brakes are vital (more so than engine) and are needed for safe operation of vehicle they should be rock solid in design without ABS modules. Oh, when they work they are great but when they don't you may not have ANY brakes. How does that make a vehicle more safe??!!

Could it be because you initialised the ABS module when it wasn't connected to the brake hydraulics. It would explain why a re-initiallisation when fully installed, cleared the fault! Excuse me if this is a stupid comment, I know nothing about diagnostic scanners, I'm trying to learn by watching great videos like yours!

I've had much better luck writing vins on the bench, when you have it hooked into the system. It's pulling Vin information from somewhere else and gives you a mismatch.... At least this is how it is with the PCM

If it's a booster vacuum signal fault, check the crimps at the vacuum pressure sensor connector terminals. I've had heaps of them have poor contact causing intermittent drop-outs of the the signal. Can send you photos.,

I kind of enjoy that the Chrysler-Fiat merger made Fiat's quality worse. (Fiat adopted the TIPM and other Chrysler electrical systems, which was not a great idea).

The military's solution for bleeding hydraulics on F-35 was to just get rid of the hydraulics for flight control actuators and go electric. Ok, they probably did it for other reasons, too. They then ran into another problem. As the flight control surface comes back to its neutral position, it's essentially backdriven by the air loads and acts like a generator. So they had to include large resistors to burn off the back EMF. Otherwise it would drive the electrical bus crazy. So maybe it's time for electric brakes on road vehicles. Hahaha.

Really??? Need for dissipating back EMF in a servo system has been known for as long as electric servo systems existed. The bigger the motor, the bigger the resistors.

Its a bummer that the area he lives in will not allow him to build a shop for his business. Something about Code. Ivan should build an addition to the house. Bigger garage for his vehicle during the winter months. Im sure His XL7 will have a happy 😁 home.

Hello Ivan, it's tough right now with Chrysler!, I'm repairing a COPART 2020 PACIFICA , parts are scarce even used parts and quality of new parts is dim.
