Easy to say but when you’re tripling or quadrupling the end cost for the customer for something that can be jumped with a small wire, it’s worth considering.

For the customer.. not for the mechanic.. thatd be like you ordering a cheese burger then they give you a veggie burger saying “oh this ones cheaper and tastes kinda the same..” if you hired somebody to fix say some drywall, if they just used cardboard instead because it would get the job done quicker and with no material cost then the dude comes to you and tells you “oh your gonna need some drywall, mud, screws, sandpaper, paint and all but its fixed for now..” wouldnt you think you hired them to fix the shit and not to duct tape it together..?

If you're willing to do a little wiring, Blue Sea makes good quality fuse blocks for things like boats. So you don't necessarily need to find a good but old OEM fuse block. You just need to find room to mount a smaller 6-circuit fuse block. I've back fed buses before. I made a suicide cord until I could get something proper for my panel when Hurricane Ike came through Ohio in 2008. And when I was renovating my house I had to jam the raw ends of romex into an extension cord to power part of my house until I got the demo done in that area to run a new branch circuit. That was super sketchy but I only had to do it for a few hours.

Why wait for it to act up check the voltage drop on the circuit. When there is excessive resistance in a circuit it will fail when the resistance has caused enough heat for the circuit to fail completely. Than when you shut off the circuit it will cool back down until the resistance builds heat back up again and than fail When you load the circuit with test light the circuit cant carry the load but if you where check with a multimeter you will find battery voltage perform a voltage drop from battery postive to the fuses that lost power That would be the starting point than start isolating the resistance point in the circuit
@simonparkinson1053Сағат бұрын
4:25 That diagram is WRONG!! And it's led you down the wrong path. If you look carefully, it shows the acc/run feed (BRN) and the run feed (ORG) connected in parallel inside the fuse box. That's effectively what you have done with your bypass jumper wire. If a replacement fuse box is installed, the problem will return. I think you need to check the proper OE diagram, (sometimes errors are made when redrawing them) and go one step back up the tree to the ignition switch. You did make comments wondering how some fuses were hot but others not if they were on the same tree, so there must be a failed connection inside the fuse box. But you will find it's the fuses fed by the orange run wire that were dead.
