Pinehurst No.4 May Have Been My Favorite Course At The Resort

I was able to play Pinehurst a couple of weeks ago now, twice on No. 9, twice on No. 2 and twice on No. 4. It would be a hard pick to choose which one is my favorite. No. 2 wins for nostalgia. It is stupendous. No. 4 though, so much character, I would play it every day. No. 9 is so much different. And a favorite. All things considered, I couldn't pick a favorite. If I could play those three, in rotation, for the next fifteen years, I would be golf satisfied. What a great place, Pinehurst.

Theres also so many great courses around the area too. I know people consider Myrtle the golf capital but Pinehurst has to be a close 2nd.

I was in Southern Pines, 4 miles from the resort on July 4th. I traveled 2.5 hours to repair my daughters AC and had planned to play The Cradle. After 6 hrs working on her unit my back was not cooperating so I left early for home. Next visit I will play The Cradle and #5. You cannot play any resort courses but #5 and #7 without a stay at the resort. I can stay with my daughter so I plan to play a number of courses in the area. There are many more affordable courses very close that are in great condition. I have already played #2 and #4 over 20 years ago when the cost was half what it is now in a package.

When you go to Pinehurst do you purchase a package deal of rounds or something like that? Also, how many courses are part of the Pinehurst resort? I'm sure I could google all of this, but let's ramp up that channel activity! Nice round by the way.

Yes. Its the Donald Ross package. Stay 2 nights, play 3 rounds. Number 2 is an extra fee. Nine courses total, and The Cradle which is a par 3 course. I really regret not playing it.

If you have the money, I'd say yes. Greens are really tricky and there are some holes that require course knowledge.
