Bought used set, saved big money. Great clubs. Remind me of old hogan apex grinds with more distance, great consistently and a recognizable amount of forgiveness.

I play i210s, the i59s would be perfect for the short irons (8i-PW) but I am not good enough to play them in the longer irons. The problem is that the i210s are just so good that I cannot see myself changing - certainly not at that price

Morning Andy, great review as usual especially for the handicap golfer. I agree with you about the price point. On this basis alone I wouldn't even consider them given that a custom fit set of i210 will set me back £600. Seems a crazy price.

My thoughts on Ping as well. MP20 HMB are my current sticks and I love them. Nice review as always Andy. Wow, I thought the HMB’s were pricey but these - WOW!

Alumi-core or XCore...decisions decisions. More and more filled hollow body construction irons daily. All geared towards perimeter weighting with vibration reduction.

I like these and the MP 223s. Did you notice any difference between the two on off-center hits? At the shop, the MP 223s felt a bit smoother/ softer, but also seemed slightly less "forgiving." I'm wondering if this was just me on that day.

@@limes..100 yes, 100%. ebay is full of enough decent golf clubs that nobody need ever make another new club again. Older ones can be refurbished and fitted locally by people in the community where you live. Spend money on lessons, again keep money locally. Scores wouldn't change if only ebay clubs were used... some youtubers would be out of pocket though... I can cope with that 😄

Appreciate the honest review, and would consider buying them if they wasn’t PING, went for a fitting some years ago at ping Gainsborough and the level of customer service was horrific, so would never buy anything new from ping! But keep up the good work 👍

Will be down to foregolf shortly for an iron fitting, think I will include some pings in the fitting but still not sure which ones to put up against the mizunos

A great looking iron - however, the cost of these is spicey. I have just purchased a set of PXG Gen 3 Irons (custom it) for £135 per iron. That is a significant saving on the Pings. They feel buttery and the performance was outstanding.

As a scratch golfer I really wish clubs would offer different Offset options like Ping does with lofts! I would love to play a more forgiving club as I can't practice much these days but the Offset effects play too much....

Mizuno Hot Metal Pros, weaken 2 degrees, will have near-zero offset. Also, Taylormade P770, new Titleist T200 or Callaway Apex Pros - are all good clubs to demo.

Certainly try them with a view to putting them in the bag! I have i210’s and forged blades, SO, in theory, these could replace both but at that RRP, the performance is going to have to be amazing compared to what I have!

My first Pings were two G400 hybrids and they are as forgiving as I can think about. So in the future Pong irons may are an option but only if they don’t ruin my purse 😉 And Andy: the prices of nearly all manufacturers aren’t suited for the mass market any longer. That was true ten years ago.

It seems to be more like Titleist T200 ! I’ll game it. RE pricing Titleist has increased its pricing in 18 months by 20% which seems unreasonable.

Interesting Ping irons. So, the inner core is a welded aluminum material, are there tungsten weights at the toe and heel too?

If the face were forged as the rest of the head, then I’d consider it a true players club. A forged head & stainless steel head doesn’t justify such a large price point. I game Titleist TMB 716 irons which aren’t forged but have the directional control of forged. For the cost of the i59s, I can refinish my TMBs 10x, keeping them like new forever. They’ll outlive me. 66 years young.

I'd definitely try it, at least in the shorter irons IF only it wasn't so expensive. But no, I won't be trying these. There are enough alternatives that are as good but significantly cheaper.

I’ve been a ping man with irons for 30 odd years but I’ve got to say although the irons are very good quality they are far too expensive for the average bloke in the street, not to mention pensioner as I am ( 70 )

I used Ping S55 irons and think they are super clubs. I’m sure these are even better but they are far too expensive, especially compared to PXG 0211…

Seem to be comparable with Titleist T100 but £60 dearer per club. Ping may have to rethink the pricing strategy

Thanks again, for thoughtful and fair review of these new irons. They are not for me as a 13-handicapper playing at the minute as a 33 handicapper. As for price, when Ping in the past have offered forged irons, such as the Anser irons, they were very expensive relative to other offerings. Similarly, the Ping Rapture irons/woods were also very expensive. so clearly it’s not “out of character” for Ping. Still, keep up the good work!

I think if I'm looking for a forged iron I'm not looking at Ping especially when they are more expensive then a Mizuno or Titleist ...

This is a fair point. I'm looking to upgrade to a nice Adult-salaried set of irons, Mizuno and Titleist are definitely catching my eye. I've hit the i210's which were nice, these look fantastic, but no real right to be this expensive. Each iron is the price of a fairway wood... ha.

They have too many player's irons out there to choose from need to scale that back and go more for the average player who need game improvement irons and reduce the cost if they expect the consumer to purchase their product, and I am a Ping Person

Working at a retailer the feedback on the ping has been superior the vast majority of the time. I don’t have a preference because they don’t suit me

Too expensive irons for mid handicappers...., if aimed for them, because they are definetively a players irons. As a mid handicapper I would go for a Ping i210/i500, great irons and much cheapers, or you can even go for P790, great all rounded irons. I do not get the price still.....

If you’re not a legit single digit handicap, you really have no business trying to work the ball anyway. Just focus on being able to hit it straight and consistent. I always get a kick out of guys that shoot in the 90s with a slice, trying to draw the ball to a back left pin or something.

I’ve been playing I blades for 4 years and will play them for 4 more at these prices. If you think Ping irons are quality just compare them with a Mizuno MP model - no contest. Ping are using the “ hydro pearl” coating as a cover-all for poor quality metalwork beneath.

Waaaaay too much talking. Information is good but this should be a 10 minute video but it's over 17 minutes because there is 7 minutes of chatter on things an average golfer would say about a "better than average" player's golf club. AND THEN A SUMMARY with 3 minutes of more talking.

Ping used to be a premium priced brand back in the 1980's. I can remember a set of Beryllium copper eye 2's being around £650 which is probably around £1400 in today's money. The i59 is a product designed for low single figures players so it's market is limited plus it is loaded with tech and I'm guessing it isn't cheap to make. I found this review to be a not particularly informative. The reviewer isn't in the target market for this product because its not a club for an 'average golfer'.
