Good morning, those are muscadine vines and are not poisonous. I'm enjoying your hike and stayed at 3 Magnolias on my hike. Can't say enough about Brandon at Elevated Grounds. He keeps hikers from being thirsty on the trail with his water caches. Stay strong!

@@CGull-e4h That is good to know about the vines! Also loved the amazing trail angels keeping hikers hydrated 😊

I started on the 29th as well (but at the southern terminus). The humidity is absolutely crazy, and I come from a humid area, but this was like no other. I kept trying to explain it wasn't "hot," but the humidity made it almost unbearable because it would be like you just got rained on for the entire day (was worse than the humidity on the AT in 2020, when I did my first attempt). Then we had NO breeze whatsoever for most of our 70-mile hike. And I hear you about the Spiderwebs! I probably caught about 30 a day to the face lol. I got off at Clairmont Gap due to a gear issue. Coming back out in mid-January to finish up and then hike to Springer and start my AT hike.

@NuttyHikerOfficial January sounds perfect! I would also love to connect the Pinhoti to Springer and will probably try to get that done next spring.
