Yeah, but they can get sued for doing the unlawful thing. No one's perfect guys, people sometimes mess up in the heat of the moment and luckily there are repercussions. Cops get shot at first 90% of the time before returning fire. It's rather a rare thing that they open fire first. Yeah, she totally messed up, but it's not worthy of making a huge point of it. I've seen so many people on chat just go after the cops and make their lives miserable for simple mistakes.

@MokeTip I know she's known for it but I for one don't care enough to complain about it. Her character is fine. In fact I think it's good that some cops are starkly different than others. Gives them a personality rather than the normal "always goes-by-the-book" type of cop. Plus you see how criminals react when she shows up? It's way more exciting from a viewer's POV. They're always like "She's the hostage shooter", "She's trigger happy". etc.. Way more nerve racking and you can sense some panic in them sometimes. More drama the better, especially when it's the same recipe for a robbery or whatever they are doing that we've seen a thousand times.
