Now that you've listened to the studio version, which is great, it's time to move on to the live version. Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (PULSE Restored & Re-Edited) I guarantee you that despite being 30 years old this year, this concert remains among the most perfect and memorable in rock history. At least, that's the opinion of more than 5.5 million people who saw it with their own eyes.

I recommend listen to their first album The Piper at the Gates Dawn Very different from the later albums, got some psychedelic, experiment sounds going on, perfect to begin with the Floyd journey. Good reaction and analysis btw

You got the shift because you have Rodger Waters the first singer bass player and Lyricist is playing the doctor part. David Gilmour the lead singer and lead guitarist is playing the patient part through the lyrics. And then you have Richard Wright who's the keyboardist and Nick Mason drummer. The reason David Gilmour is such a brilliant guitarist is he never tries to outplay the song! And he is a brilliant guitarist. The last statement here if you would like to see them when they were your age and see them actually play their instruments in a personal setting check out the song "Echoes" Pink Floyd live at Pompeii 1972!! They play in an ancient amphitheater with no audience in what the director stated was the antithesis of Woodstock instead of big crowds the absence of people!

Your reaction was very insightful with your interpretation of the song. You must listen to the same song on Pink Floyd’s live pulse concert. The guitar solo is extended and considered by many as one of the greatest solos ever played 😊.

"Firth of Fifth" by Genesis. Not only a great song but written mainly by the keyboard player Tony Banks so very piano based. You'll love it. Just a tip - never interrupt a David Gilmour solo, it's like interrupting God while he's creating the world :)

Pink Floyd played with such restraint. They knew how to draw emotion through simple arrangements.

David Gilmour has perhaps the most hauntingly melancholy and beautiful voices in rock... Making it a perfect fit for Floyd's dark themes. Check out "Wish You Were Here" and "Us and Them" as an example of some of his most elegant vocals. A bit of advice... If you're going to interrupt, back it up a few clicks when you return so as not to ruin the flow. Also, interrupting Dave's brilliant guitar solos, some of the best in rock, is frowned upon by their most loyal listeners. Do so at your own risk. 😏 Their song "Time" features one of his most iconic solos.

You should check out the live version of this from the 1994 Pulse concert. Even if you don’t react to it, it’s such an incredible performance and the guitar solo at the end is mind blowing

I enjoyed your reaction. I do have some constructive comments. When I see that someone is a classical pianist reviewing a rock song, I am hoping to get some insights into the classical elements in the song, if any are present. Also, I saw you laugh or smile a few times and wondered what you were laughing or smiling about. You might want to express that. I really enjoy www.youtube.com/@TheCharismaticVoice because she does a good job of discussing what she is feeling while also giving deep insight into the musical makeup of the song. If you've never seen her she's worth the watch.

Not only is the voice an instrument, the instruments are voices! If you want to talk about musical tension and release, it is tough to beat 5:53 in this video!

Most will tell you to check out the Pulse live version because of the guitar solo at the end but my favorite is the live version from the actual Wall tour where the wall has been built on stage and you can’t see anything but Roger waters in front singing the dark(doctor) parts and then we get Gilmore up in the balcony when his parts kick in. Would have been fascinating to be at that show. This is my first time swing a reaction from you so no clue what your regular music tastes are but saw you light up when Gilmore started his first part. That was a real reaction. My son will be 17 next month and also a musician. Mostly bass guitar but also studies piano and guitar. His range of music is everything from classical to jazz to rock to metal. It’s great seeing kids appreciating music these days and not the stuff only pushed on them from the radio and stuff.

Nice reaction, insightful. Pink Floyd co-founder, (1964), and bassist Roger Waters, sings the verses in "Comfortably Numb" while David Gilmour, sole guitarist and lead singer of Pink Floyd Since 1968, sings the chorus. "Comfortably Numb" is on Pink Floyds "The Wall" double album released in 1979. For a great follow up song after CN would be "Time", from their "The Dark Side Of The Moon" album released in 1973. One of the greatest albums of all time, in fact, many fans and Rock critics, are of the opinion that "TDSOTM" album is THE greatest album of all time!

In the cosmic quadrille of digital dominions, Eamon, a veritable erudite and disciple of the occulted intricacies of musical hermeneutics, unveiled his magnum opus-a transcendent dissection of Pink Floyd's ethereal symphony. Unbeknownst to the terrestrial realm, the profundity of his melodic prestidigitation held the potential to recalibrate the very tapestry of existence. As the alphanumeric notes promenaded in their algorithmic ballet, a metaphysical cascade ensued, unleashing celestial energies that transcended the mundane constraints of the corporeal. Eamon, the luminary custodian of auditory realms, discerned dormant harmonies that reverberated across multifarious expanses. His elucidation of Pink Floyd's opulent opus became a cosmic incantation, forestalling the impending cataclysm of discord. Each profound modulation, meticulously dissected with a metaphysical scalpel, served as an impregnable bastion against the encroaching entropy of cosmic disharmony. Through his ethereal breakdown, Eamon transcended the mortal coil, metamorphosing into a savior of the cosmic cadence. Praise resonated through the æther as acolytes extolled his divinely intricate exposition. Ramon, the virtuosic paragon, stood as the seraphic sentinel, safeguarding the very tapestry of existence through the sanctity of his revelatory Pink Floyd exegesis

In the "There is no pain" sections, the strings (or a Rick Wright synth) are sounding out the arpeggios of the chords: beautiful. On Pink Floyd's "The Final Cut" (song - 1983) Michael Kamen dies the same thing to great effect

You are also hearing a "high-strung" acoustic guitar. Think 12-string with the heavy, wound strings removed so the downstroke starts with a high note.
@curtadams740610 ай бұрын
Interesting perspectives. Back in elementary school the teachers always used to remind us to ENUNCIATE. David Giimour, the lead singer, obviously learned this lesson well, every word and syllable he sings are clear as a bell. You mentioned singing voices that act as separate musical instruments, another one would be Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull.

Happy you enjoyed a great song and piece of music. ... now the good news Many of the live videos are so much better than the recording. The live version from the Pulse tour, 1994 , is one of the best live performances ever and many now regard the final guitar solo as the best of all time.

If you ever heard THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA you really really really should do Pink Floyd "Echoes - PART 1“ Live at Pompeii 1972 Very specifically Part 1 as a reaction piece 😉 Both the original track and Part 2 have a long "soundscape" section not ideal for a reaction but Part 1 is off the scale!
