"High Hopes" is a song by English rock band Pink Floyd, composed by guitarist David Gilmour with lyrics by Gilmour and Polly Samson. It is the closing track on their fourteenth studio album, The Division Bell (1994); it was released as the second single from the album on 17 October 1994. An accompanying music video was made for the song and was directed by Storm Thorgerson.
Pink Floyd are an English rock band formed in London in 1965. Gaining an early following as one of the first British psychedelic groups, they were distinguished by their extended compositions, sonic experimentation, philosophical lyrics and elaborate live shows. They became a leading band of the progressive rock genre, cited by some as the greatest progressive rock band of all time.

I believe its the opposite? They are telling of a past that was erased. Pink Floyd trying to tell us about Tartarian empire? The bells in the back ground mean something.. Maybe it was a reference when they cracked and melted all the BIG bells because of the health benefits the frequency would bring people ei: 432hz... So this song is letting us imagine how GREAT it once was. People were free, healthy and civilized them greed took over and and they burnt everything down and buried it...

A great song from an even better band. Been listening to Pink Floyd for at least 40 some odd years. I have seen them in concert, a beautiful experience, it was the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour in Chicago. Another awesome album. Haven't seen the tribute bands live only in video they're great and sounds perfect.
