You are discovering what makes Pink Floyd so unique - they don't simply plug into their amps, they plug directly into your soul, heart, and mind. So happy you get it.

One of the best songs from this show is called Sorrow, it's an absolute masterpiece. I'd like to recommend that you maybe have a little wine when you listen to it. It's a special performance, and deserves a little extra something. You only get to hear it for the first time once.

A third recommendation for Sorrow, again the live version from the Pulse concert. Every observation you've made so far in all your Floyd reactions I do completely relate to. Their music really does transcend the normal experience of a song, whilst also going so deep. And, going back to the recommendation of Sorrow, the first time I watched the live performance of it I was literally shaken for three days. It's one you really shouldn't miss - and we'd love to see your reaction to it and enjoy your enjoyment of it!

Like Justin Atest, said, the 2 best songs, or COMFORTABLY NUMB, AND SORRIW (MY FAVOURITE ONES).....I saw that tour, in my town in France, STRASBURG, in the stadium (stade de la Meinau), 50,000 peoples.....I was only 14 years old, i will never forget.....Magic....SORROW, live at Earls Court, is, probably, my favourite, before COMFORTABLY NUMB.....✌️

In case you were wondering about how he shaped the sound of his guitar with his mouth this is how it works. There's a box on the floor at the bottom of the mic stand. in that box is a small speaker. When a foot switch is pressed it diverts the sound of the guitar to that speaker. The sound then travels up a plastic hose attached to the mic stand and into the mouth where it can be shaped and change by the guitarist. That sound is picked up by the vocal mic and amplified in the usual way. A simple device, but it takes someone to think of the idea in the first place. You're welcome ✌❤🇬🇧

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

I was there and it was the most incredible experience to see and hear all these fantastic songs played to perfection live. At the end of this one you see David playing his guitar through a gadget to his mouth so he can manipulate the sound vocally. Phones and computer, even stereo sound systems cannot do them justice because live, they use a stadium sized quadraphonic sound system which takes the sounds around the whole venue. Great reaction thanks and hope you continue to enjoy your trip down a very big rabbit hole.

You my friends, have been Floyded! I've seen them many times and Pulse had to see twice. Felt the music for days. We all came out of the concert just completely blown away! I've seen many reactions to them and I truly hate that they are no more as Rick Wright has passed(RIP) and that was it for David Gilmour. I really wish folks like you and all these kids that are getting blown away, would have the chance to experience them!

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show Syracuse Carrier Dome in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all. When the “Disco Ball’ was uncovered and the lights hit it….. WHAT IS HAPPENING was what I said….The entire crowd was held in a trace and our minds totally blown by what we witnessed.

saw this 5 times. When you go to the concert people SIT and Listen and Feel the music ( "Run Like Hell" is the only song people stand). That's why they did get a lot of radio play because they don't play 3/4 minutes songs. "Sorrow" " Take it Back' Give Dave's solo work some love. 'Live at Gdansk" there is a backing orchestra. some ( P.F. Songs"Echoes' " Great day for Freedom "***) sole Take a Breath" , Live at Pompeii. 'in any tongue" " rattle that lock' Last time with Dave at 70 yrs old playing : 'comfortably Numb" HIS BEST PLAYING.

The tube Gilmore uses after the second chorus is called a „talk box“: the sound of the guitar is fed through the tube into Gilmore‘s mouth and he can „shape“ the sound by opening and closing or changing the shape of his mouth, the sound is then recorded by the microphone. Another great song of the Pulse tour is „Shine on you crazy diamond“!

In their earlier years it was rather easy to classify their music as psychedelic rock and truth be told most of their music at that time was not my cup of tea. But gradually their style changed into the sound we all can only describe as something created in heaven (or hell) resulting in one masterful concept album after another. People try to classify it as progressive rock but I feel - as many with me - that they are in a league of their own. Listening to their music is like being high without having to take a drug.

If you were wondering about the computer synthesized voice tracks scattered throughout the song, that is the voice of the late Stephen Hawking, sometimes referred to as the worlds smarted human, and he is also on the studio version. The irony being the title is 'Keep Talking' and he lost his ability to speak at an early age due to ALS and was only able to speak through the computer synthesized voice you are hearing here.

I Love watching people discovering the Mystery and Magnificence of Pink Floyd. I grew up with Pink Floyd and have always considered them my favorite band. On top of that, David Gilmour is at the absolute Pinnacle of my list of Favorite Guitarists. He says so much through the strings of his instrument with the minimum of chords. Anyway, id love to see you react to A Great Day For Freedom. There is a version from the Pulse Concert but in my humble opinion the Best version is from the Album, David Gilmore live at Gdansk. You made me smile mentioning PF in the same breath as Mozart & Bach. I have long said that PF is my Mozart. Just as those classical masters are studied in music schools today, I believe that PF will be studied in the same way, even a hundred years from now. They were that creative and innovative, and yes, the songs still seem fresh because the ideas they address are universal. Please do yourselves a favor and check out David Gilmour Live in Gdansk. It's a solo tour, but Rick is with him, as well as Guy Pratt, the music is roughly half PF and half solo Gilmour songs, and the band is backed by the Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, which adds another whole dimension to songs like Comfortably Numb. The very last performance of Echoes by David and Rick is part of that concert, and it is nothing short of magical. Shine On!

You will noticed that when you pay attention to fact that Rush is a band of only three musicians and each of them seems to be a unique genius of instruments they play. They give a same level of greatness as Pink Floyd but in different form. The first best of their masterpieces to discover is a piece called "La Villa Striangiato". They have also a classical music type pieces but in rock form. Definitely must to discover band.

No other band has ever done what Pink Floyd does..... but others have tried. The Moody Blues and Tangerine Dream are 2 that come to mind. I recommend you both have a listen to The Moody Blues brilliant song titled Knights in White Satin..... never live with this group, they were not great musicians. lol I hate disco music but...... the disco version by Giorgio ( Moroder ) is a brilliant cover of a great song. Other songs by The Moody Blues of note were Go Now and Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band. Tangerine Dream I know almost nothing about..... a bit to light , hippie and arty farty for me. lol

„High hopes“ and „keep talking“ are actually „late“ Pink Floyd from the „Division Bell“ Album, influenced primarily by David Gilmore and after Roger Waters had left the band - so it‘s actually not that old (early nineties) and some might argue that it‘s actually not „real“ (old) Pink Floyd - but for me the Division Bell Songs are equally good and timeless! Allegedly Gilmore is not much of a talker and speaks through his guitar - so the song is actually autobiographical to some extent!

Also, a random (none-PF) suggestion - If you like emotional performances, you really should check out Morissette Amon - "She Used To Be Mine" - I was blown away by her performance of this track - if you read the background to the track afterwards, it will put this heart-rending performance into context...
